Car repo'd

Has anyone ever had a car reposessed?
I have fallen behind 2 payments on my car and only have 4 payments left on my lease.
They came to work yesterday and hooked the car. I tried yesterday afternoon to get in touch with Ford Credit, they told me to try again first thing in the morning because my account information has not been updated yet. I called them at 8am when I got here to work, they told me the same thing, account has not been updated yet and to call back tomorrow. I will try them again in a few. First time this has ever happened to me. Just wanted to know if anyone else has ever gone through this.

That's just awefull. I am really sorry to hear about this.

I'm surpprised they went after you like that after only two missed payments, especially because you have so few left. I used to be a bill collector and it would take nearly months of processes and procedures before we could even place a lien on anything so it's rather discerning that they would accellerate the process like that.

I hope it all works out for you and my thought go out to you in this rough time.

That deal with the updating is normal. I work for a credit insurance company and I deal with alot of repo's. The updating thing is a PITA but normal. Ford Credit is pretty good about getting you the car back after you paid but you have to be on them!

Nowaday's they are alot quicker to repo stuff. Thankfully I was able to pay my car off a year early before I took another position at my job that was closer to home but less money. Sorry to hear about your repo. Hopefully everything gets cleared up fast!

Ford Credit has been really great to work with me thru this tough economy, they have been more than willing to extend the contract a few times when I knew I couldn't make the payment. I think the key is to contact them prior to getting into default and not ignoring their calls...thats when they get nervous.

Same thing happened to my nephew last Sunday, his truck is financed thru Westcom and he was avoiding them...by the time his account got updated his truck was in Anaheim on an auction lot...thats where we picked it up. He had to come up with 2 missed payments, $425 to repo guy, plus storage fees. Expensive lesson.

sucks to get it taken away when you're so close to end of lease. After you make up missed payments then you'll only have 2 months left...then what you going to do? buy it out of lease? Wish you the best of luck....

They will work with anyone, as long as you don't ignor them. Let them know the situation up front and they will take partial payments until you can catch up. Your situation sucks, I hope it all works out for you.

+1 on what everyone stated. Keep in contact with them during this time and be straight up with them too and it should work out. I can say from personal experience that I was always more willing to work things out with when someone had open communication with me.

That's what I thought... that's awful fast. A friends neighbor get repo'd a few years ago but he was like 6-8 months behind.

They were great about extending my contract awhile back when I had a bunch of unexpected expenses come up. But be sure to call them before your payment is due to arrange this.

I have heard that some finance companies are hooking up cars with just ONE missed payment these days , so I made a point to finance again on my '10 with Ford Credit based on my good experience with them in the past.

Have to give them a call today. They told be it takes one business day for your account to be updated.
My car is lased through a company called Cab East. Hopefully I will be able to get all of this straightened out today.

Sorry to hear about your repo. Ford Credit would not have been so quick to repo, so it makes sense as you used an independent lender for the lease (Cab East). I've been in your shoes - about 10 years ago, my ex had her minivan repo'd after she and I split up (it was in my name, though). I kept in constant contact with Ford Credit while past due and offered to give them a key to the rig so they wouldn't have to tow it away. After they repo'd it, they sold it at auction and I had to pay the difference between what they got for it and what my ex still owed on the loan.

Just got off the phone with Ford Credit. They told me that my account is still not updated. It takes 24-48 hours for account to be updated. I have to call back again tomorrow.

I somewhat confused why your calling Ford Credit if its leased thru Cab East...who do you have the contract with?

I think he is calling Cab East. Another poster mentioned along the way that Ford Credit was good to deal with and the thread got slightly OT at that point.
