This car hates the wife!

2008 GT with e-force edelbrock supercharger. Picked up this baby about a year ago. The wife and I both love the car and we were taking turns driving it but she is convinced it hates her.

The car will shut down on her without warning. She usually can get it to the side of the road where it will restart after a few minutes. Once it was at an intersection as she was making her move across and it put her in a bad situation and a close call.
No codes or idiot lights are thrown.

It never did that when I was driving. first thing I did what change out the O2 sensors and recently changed the battery and alternator(tested and needed).

It shut down on her again today and she vows not to drive her!

Has anyone experienced this problem and found the cure? Please help

Sounds like it just wants you to drive it!

I use to have one that acted like that... Guess you will have her (the car) all to yourself now. Car probably has a thing for you. May have to name it Christine.

Driving style is probably the difference. Suped-up cars need to be stomped on every so often. Does she run it hard enough to keep it happy?
My wife always lugs the heck out of our cars......won't even stomp the gas to accelerate on the ON ramp of a freeway. LOL! don-ohio

with Don. If it runs good for you, then the only variable would be her driving style. You didn't mention what type tranny the car has, but it could be she's in the wrong gear when making moves in traffic. My old 5.4L w/a supercharger did not like to be lugged. It would jump, skip, and general get pissed off. Keeping the rpm's up made it happy, happy, happy.

Have you checked your engine compartment relay box to see if the PCM or Fuel Pump Relays are loose? Battery clamp connections clean and tight? I'd also check any wire splices that may have been done when the supercharger was installed. Some people never solder or, crimp properly connectors and heat-shrink connections that help keep moisture out. Twisting wires together and taping is a wiring problem waiting to happen in an engine compartment.

This might be a reach but when the e-force first came out I know there were issues with the TB's and many were swapped out. But I think that threw a code but i'm not positive.

So it's an overheating issue and I need help. She was driving in stop and go traffic and my drive to work is all highway.

That's why it would konk out on her and not me.
So when it overheated on me I opened the hood while it was still running to check the cooling fan and it is not running.

So here is what I've checked so far.
Both cooling fan relays are good.
Flushed the radiator and changed the thermostat.
I start the car in the morning and turn on the AC and the fan is running. I drive it in traffic with the AC on max to get it to overheat. When the temp gets to H I pull over and check the cooling fan and it is not running.

Fan runs cool but not hot?
Need some advice please

Could be the fan on temp is screwed up in the tune? I don't know if you have a tuner for the car, but the fan on temp is one of the user adjustable parameters . . . I am not sure if you can check what it is already set to, but you can change it to a value that you want, like 180 degrees and see if that works.

Sounds like a throttle body issue, or a tune that needs tweaking

I don't have a tuner so I took it to the local shop for a diagnostic. Seems the new fan is faulty since the computer shows no faults and no broken or faulty circuits. Fan is under warrantee and on its way back. New fan on its way to me. More later.

The drama continues!
On the third fan and still have a problem. After I installed the third fan I made sure the AC was off and let the car come to temp slowly. Just before the needle got to 12 o'clock the fan came on as expected. I let it run a while and it held the temp down. I then loaded up the engine by turning on the AC on high. When the needle got to 12 o'clock or slightly past 12, the fan shut down. That was the beginning of the end. A rise in temp started. First shutting off the AC and then continuing on. The fan did not come back on.
No CEL, no codes when I check with my obd2 reader.
Back to the mechanic for another computer check and diagnostic.

Have you checked the cooling fan resistor?

If it's all rusted it's probably all done.

Third fan in a row? Each one brand new.

It doesn't say the resistor is included when I look them up. It says it includes the shroud, the fan blade assembly and the motor.
I would check with the repair shop.
