Can I/Should I paint my mufflers?

Just like the title says....I have my mufflers off and notice they are looking pretty dirty (stock gt's). Can I paint them with some high temp rattle can paint to keep them looking a little better? Any recommendations on what kind/brand to use? Thank you in advance!

I used some black barbeque paint on mine - holds up pretty well.

paint those puppies up. Just about any heat resistant paint should do the trick. Prep them well and go for it

I painted the backs of mine, ( stockers ) with just a silver rattle can, no high temp or nothing, after 4 years it still looks good.

I've painted mine after preppin' them with a good coat of high temp gray primer, then followed that with three coats of high temp semi-gloss black.

They're so pretty... the best rattle can job in a while. The sad part is, the flat, nearly flawless top sides won't ever be seen...

I haven't put them on the car yet. Really pleased with the look. Have to have my *just put on* bumper fixed due to some jerk hitting it with their truck. Well, I assume it's a truck, can't figure out how high any car gets to be up there...

Anyway... Do it!

Paint em and throw on a set of tips. The stock tips look lost in the bumper cut outs.

Thank you for the replies, I got a wire brush that attached to my drill then I went to autozone and got a can of 2,000 degree gray primer and black spray cans. And yes I know what you mean, the nicely painted part will never be seen.....but ohh well. It'll keep them from getting all crudded up like they were when I took them off.

Main reason for me is the black bottom piece of the bumper shows the silvery muffler... doesn't look right. With the black mufflers, the tips will hopefully show more, and it'll 'hide' the muffler better.

Painting is done and those pain in the rear mufflers are finally rehung....I hope I don't have to take those back off anytime soon. It probably would of been a bit easier had I of jacked it up, But it was pretty much all I could do to get some room behind it while it was stored in an already too packed garage. Took it out for the first time this year and had some fun!!
Thanks again for the help and info everyone!!

Ditto, did mine back in the fall of 2006, no issues at all since then.
