C&L Racer + 93 anybody's tune.

JLT + 93 anybody's tune following in close second.

Reasons why I prefer C&L over JLT:
1) C&L comes with a heat shield. You need/want this so your intake avoids most of the hot engine air. When you add a heatshield (at APDPerformance) to the JLT intake, the prices are only $30-40 apart.
2) I examined both manufacturers sites and it looks to me that C&L has alot more hard engineering and math behind the shape and design of their products in general, vs JLT. It could be that C&L just has a better marketing guy and I'm a sucker. Who knows. But the smoothly curving tube of the C&L seems like a better and less turbulent path for air to take "in my head."

Both will get you basically the same performance within dyno error levels of 28-32rwhp.

JLT II and Tillman Speed. My choice because it's what I got. Seriously though, they are the best deal around. The JLT is the bargain of the bunch, and performance equal to all of them. Tillman has excellent customer service and actually answers the phone when you call. That with the 25% off coupon for mail order tunes (if you already have an x-cal) makes it a heck of a deal!

Oh yeah. Actually, now that I think of it, I recommend Tillmanspeed @ APDPerformance. I think the 3 major tuners here will all get you great tunes, but if you get one from Tillmanspeed:
1) You can get free retunes when you add other minor upgrades like CMCV plates, etc (no F.I., etc).
2) You get the free retune even if you buy your parts from another vendor. The other tuners either only retune for free when you buy parts from them - or don't offer free retunes at all.
3) Tillmanspeed has a strong forum presence, so you know if you have issues, you will be heard.

Steeda CAI and Bama 93 Octane Race Tune.

Here is why:
1. Steeda CAI flow the most amount of air of all the CAI according to SCT. "SCT has seen the highest horsepower and torque results while using Steeda's Cold Air Kit, over any other brand." - Chris Johnson, President of SCT Tuning

2. Ford help design it and Shelby uses it on their vehicles.

3. Steeda uses the best heat shield, compare too other if you dare.

4. Doug @ Bamachips offers hands down the best tune and customer service.

5. SCT X-2 is sooo much better than the Predator.

6. My experience is that my car dynoed an improved 31hp and 30tq at the wheels.

C&L racer compared to the street version:

The Racer version allows for more air flow (potential for slightly more power). Racers elbow is made of composite/plastic whereas the street version is made of aluminum, as a result, the racer is slightly less expensive than the street version. Also, the newer street versions have a "no tune" insert that allows for a slight performance improvement without the need for a tuner.....at least thats what they say.

WMS - 'cause it looks the coolest and performs as well as any other.
I have had nothing but good luck with and heard nothing but good things from Brenspeed.

JLT + Bamachips, Bamachips gives free retunes for mods as well.

REVEREND, why exactly did you add 4% fuel to your tune?? Just curious

Steeda CAI + VMP tune

Steeda CAI because the heat shield is really solid and well designed, and looks great.

VMP tune because it pulls harder on my car than Brenspeed or Bama tunes.

The tune was a little lean, 13.1, so we tuned it to 12.7. The 4% fuel gave us a little safer tune. So my tune is semi-custom, all for $50!

Steeda CAI w/inlet elbow and a dyno tune - 93 octane of course. Steeda and Ford engineering are in bed with this product. Dyno tune will give you about 8-10 pulls to dial it in.

We will be releasing a CAI soon that I think you guys might like. It's a bit different than most out there.

Ours is thin wall aluminum avaliable polished or paint matched. There are some things about the design that make it superior IMO. This will become more clear once I post pics. I prefer a metal intake over plastic. But plastic is usually cooler compared to all the cast intakes. That's why we used thin wall alumimum.

I'm on the dyno right now testing it vs. a JLT II that was already on the car. Results right now are promising and I think I can pick up more power with a few modifications to the design.

I'm also not a fan of the huge 4" pipes. It's what made the best power, so that's what we have used in the past. I think the 4" pipe is too big for the engine bay and demands way too much attention.

So that's a hint, ours isn't 4"

Thanks for the reply fellas! I have to agree the C&L Racer is the best intake on the market. Their engineering on that intake, the CFM difference between the rest of those around, speaks for itself as well as the quality. It's as good of an intake as there will ever be, in my honest opinion.

JLT would be my second choice. HP has shown within 1-2 HP of all of the other top choices out there, and is priced VERY reasonably.

If you go with our custom tune package, along with either of these two intakes... you WILL be happy.
