Same here. I ordered in September 04'. I did not see one in person until late October. I just knew I had to have it.

I've always wanted a new Mustang since the the 05+. I was able to drive one about 6 months ago before I left for Iraq. I just ordered a 07 GT/CS which should be built around 9/18!!!!!

I went to a Ford Innovation Drive event in Irwindale CA in August/September 2004. I got to the event expecting to just look at the cars (event was full when I tried to register online), but when I got there they asked if I wanted to drive some cars so I signed up.
They had several Mustangs (GT and V-6 w/ manual and automatics) available to drive. I drove an automatic GT as that was what I was planning to buy and during the short drive on the track I knew I wanted one.
Ordered 10/20/04 and drove home 12/28/04

I didn't test drive mine. It magically showed up in my garage. Although I did drive one before they were officially for sale.

my 07 GT broke a valve spring during my test drive.

It was a real bummer. I was so excited because the day had finally arrived to pick it up. i drove 40 miles to Gene Evans to pick it up. The car had just come off the transporter. I took it for a short drive down the street and back. I babied it the whole way. It broke a valve spring as i was parking it. The dealer loaned me a Fusion to drive home in that night while they fixed my mustang. The next day they fixed it delivered it to me at work (saving me another long drive to pick it up). It was spotless and ran great. I couldn't be more proud of the car and the dealer.

Yikes! What did that sound like? Did it run poorly after that or not at all? Glad you got it all fixed though!

A huge vibration, the shifter was shaking like crazy. It was running on 7 cylinders at that point. Remember how cars used to be in the 70s when you turned them off and they kinda kept running--It was doing that at idle, almost going dead but somehow still turning over. Needless to say, it broke at the best possible place, before even leaving the dealership.

The only Mustang I did not drive among the ones I've owned ('94 GT, '96 Cobra, '00 GT, '03 Mach 1, '07 GT) was the Mach. I bought mine early, when we thought there were only going to be 6500 built, and did so without a drive.

I had driven the S197 GT several times before making the purchase.

I would suggest taking one out to confirm your decision, especially since the cost of the current GTs are higher than the past versions.

Good luck on the upcoming arrival!

I don't think it's that big of a deal - it's not like I'm 6' 10" or have a third arm or something. What's not to like? Anyone else buy a Mustang without a test drive?

I'm just looking forward to how the 300hp feel since my current car was rated at 140hp.
Well, put it this way: I'd never marry a woman without sleeping with her first.

Yep! Ordered my GT vert without ever seeing a new vert in person, or even test driving a GT coupe. When I was finally able to test drive a V6 vert and a GT coupe, I just knew my GT vert was going to be awesome. It didn't let me down when it finally arrived. Dang. I LOVE this car!!

Me too... never test drove it. I liked my '98 so much better than my '88... I figured this HAD to be even better, since it was an entirely new chassis. I ordered it, and had all of the paper work signed before I ever put it in gear and let the clutch out.
I wasn't nervous in the least about doing so, either.

I didn't test drive my '05, but I did drive a '05 GT a week before I ordered mine.

Anything go wrong? Nope, but that's what warranties are for.

Talking

I test drove mine and purchased on the same day. I had been looking around for a used 05 GT and had found a perfect one...

When I showed up for the test drive (4/1/06) I had only two sessions of manual driving lessons under my belt, so I drove part of the way, and the sales guy did the rest. He showed off what the car can do with the V8, and he chirped the tires and accidentally demonstrated the "Wheel hop activated trunk latch"

Bought the GT without a test drive in a GT. I did however drive the V-6, and then based my decision on road test articles and such on the GT.

Made sure my golf clubs would fit in the trunk of a V6, they did, ordered mine the next day. That was as close as I came to test driving anything before mine arrived.
