The GT500 and the production-intent Sport Trac Adrenalin teaser accelerate the wave of momentum at SVT since the launch of the 2005 Ford GT supercar. SVT also now will develop non-SVT branded Ford Division performance vehicles – including heritage-based performance Mustangs in the spirit of the 2001 Bullitt GT and 2003 Mach 1 – as it becomes more directly integrated into Ford's mainstream product development process.

While both of those cars should have been made now when the stang actually looks retro, they have in fact already been done. I really wish they do a BOSS mustang before they redo something that has just been done. However, you could read "in the spirit of" as they are going to continue to make heritage classics (boss, cal. special, what have you) lin line with what they have already done. Man, I just want my BOSS (rant over).

I'll take a Boss or Mach with the shaker hood. How about some deep dish Bullets or Magnums to go with it Ford?

This is just a guess, but I think that maybe the point he was trying to make was that it will now be SVT that will be in charge of doing the SE's instead of the mainstream Ford production. At least thats what i got out of it. As for what SE's SVT may decide to bring out, I guess that will be the object of the next big rumor mill.

The Ford Rep. at the Cleveland Auto Show told me an SE Mustang will be out in 2007 or 2008 - Yuck! Hope that changes! I doubt I can wait that long for an SE.

Cobra is #1 on my list right now, but I hate the $39k plus price tag.
I would rather buy a Mach1, Boss, etc. in the $30k price range!

I am hoping that the SE will have at least 350hp and that it comes with a 5.4L.

I can say right now, you can quote me and put it somewhere, I am pretty sure from what I've heard that the Boss is the next SE in the lineup, scheduled for a fall 2007 release, with a 370hp 5.4 N/A under the hood. Right now they gotta get the GT500 out and running first before that goes into the heavy planning though.

Do you really think Ford will make us wait until Fall 07 for a second SE model? That is an awful long time to wait for a car that should be easier to engineer than the GT500. I am not really up on what it takes to get these new variations into production (although I see them testing models here in AZ all the time-one of the spy 05 vert photos on this site was taken at a gas station near my house).

Can anyone enlighten me as to what would need to be done for a NA 5.4 version of this new GT500?

Could the wait be capacity issues? I would think they would want to bring as many higher cost version to market as soon as they could to keep sales high....

As a 69 BOSS 302 owner, I have been holding out for a BOSS version, but went ahead and ordered because of the following:

Ford Motor Company no longer owns the copyright on the BOSS name. It is owned by Team Shinoda, as evidenced by the BOSS Shinoda cars.

There's no sign of that changing, and there's really no reason for Ford to shell out big dollars, when they can build a GT, a GTCS, a GT 350, a GT 500, a Cobra, a Bullitt, and so many more.

It's a shame...I really wanted a NEW BOSS.

But my newly ordered Redfire GT with an added Shaker hood, blacked out tail panel, blacked out wing, 18" Billet Magnum 500s, and some nice exhaust and I'm a happy camper...this car blows the old BOSS right off the map (in performance, but not legend).

The Cobra was a priority. Ford has to stay up with the competition.
I am like you guys, I want an SE right now! But, it also makes sense for Ford to spread these Mustangs out - Mustang GT in 04/05, Cobra in 06 and SE in 07. They want to keep the product fresh, and generate some excitement every year. It also helps them out with production planning and tooling. Plus, the new Stang GT has 300hp and Ford hopes that will keep the majority happy until something else comes out in 07 or 08.

I think I remember reading on here a few months back that Ford does have the rights to BOSS while Shionda owns the rights to BOSS Shinoda. Sorry, I don't have any links to prove this.

what are we going to be doing in another 20 years for an SE? I think we need to have some retro look-backs in the glory days, but in 20 years we're gonna be scratching our chins because we have no retro car to base an SE from the '05 mustangs

why not bring up some new SE's??

There are several threads concerning this. Ford can build Boss if they desire.

I think it would be interesting to see something like a P-51 model since that is where they got the name for the car from anyways. Silver with black hood and trimming.
