I noticed last night right about dark that my running lights appear really dim and yellowish when they were shining on the rear bumper of a pickup ahead of me. Are they supposed to be bright like the headlights? Are there replacement bulbs for these that are brighter?

They are designed to be fog lights and not driving lights, so they are not as bright. The yellow cast is very typical of the 9145 fog and 9008 headlights.
The fog light housing also has a much more diffused pattern than driving lights. I like using them on back roads to better see the sides of the road in case a "critter" desides to cross in my path.
I swapped out the 9145 fog bulbs with Silverstar 9005 STs. They are much brighter and whiter than the stock bulb (since they aren't a fog bulb at all). I also just switched the 9008 headlamps with Nokya Hyper white bulbs, and there is a very noticeable difference. No more yellow!
Happy motoring!
...Forgot to mention. I did all this on my F150, since it uses the same fog and driving bulbs. Waiting for the '06 stang (and not too patiently, I might add!).

Hi Jon,
I ordered around June 3rd and got my DORA about the same time you ordered.
A Black & Tungsten Vert photo op--Sounds great! Hope it's still "top down" weather in October! Shouldn't be a problem for around here.
P.S. This will be my first Mustang. My first car was a '69 Torino--same color as my '04 F150.

My folks had a '66 Fairlane vert when I was growing up - it fed the desire for another convertible my whole life so far.
When I had just started dating my wife, she sold her '70 Fairlane, which I remember being very similar to the Torino. Good cars for their day.
But they sure are better now. My folks had that '66 Fairlane for 11 years. My last Mustang did 11 years with us, and it was in MUCH better shape at that age than the '66 Fairlane was at age 11! Of course, the '90 Mustang never had the pleasure of meeting a New England winter either!
