Build Sheet
#1
I've been watching the Barrett Jackson auction and I'm set on keeping my 05 for the long run now. Does anyone know where I could get a copy of the build sheet for my car? I've come to find out that this really helps the value of the car. Thanks!

If you catch it coming off the truck thats your best bet.
Mine was sitting in the front seat when she rolled off the truck. Unfortunately I didn't know I was buying her a few weeks out and watched them throw it off with the plastic from the seats.

The build sheet is the paper that shows all of the parts of the car and options (rear end ratio, engine, part #'s etc.). It is usually hidden in the seats or the headliner. It is definitely NOT a spare piece of paper that gets thrown away during PDI. If anyone figures out where it is, I'd hope that all of these cars have them in the same place because I'd like to get mine out. The piece of paper with the bar code is like a timestamp of the cars completion, I have mine. But that piece of paper doesn't mean anything.

The build sheet will be invaluable in 20+ years when our cars become classics. As mentioned before, it contains all the details and more about how the car was assembled and what it contained when it came off the assembly line. Someone who wants to restore your car then will pay dearly to get that sheet! Especially given the way all/most of us have jumped right into serious mods.
But right now it's just another interesting document about our car.

I PDI'd my own car and while there were a few pieces of paper in the front seat, none of them were the build sheet.
I have however seen an actual build sheet in an '06 F250. That's the only one I've seen though and I've "checked in" a lot of trucks over the last few years.

I don't have it.
Remember- Eleanor was ordered and the financing fell through- thats when I came in like a shark and snatched her up. I watched them throw the sheet in the trash as they were detailing her..
This is the only picture i got- the I wish I had that pic.
They do keep them in the F150s though :bang:

Is it just the window sticker? Normally they leave them on the car, dont they?

No, this is different from the window sticker. This is what the guys in the factory use....

Below is part of the Build Sheet from my old 2001 Mustang Bullitt GT, which I unsuccessfully removed from inside the rear bumper. That's just one of the places where they were taped on the car as it made it's way down the assembly line. I know that by 2003, when they built my 2003 Mach1, they were no longer leaving the Build Sheet anywhere on or inside the car. Not sure about the 2005/2006 models and what happens to the build sheet.

Here's a pic of the build sheet I found in an F350 (built in Kentucky)
Out of almost 100 trucks I've checked in this year it's the only one that had the build sheet in it.
One of the pics is just a close-up of one section.

Picture of a 2000 mustang build sheet. The webmaster says he found it between the rear bumper cover and the chassis. I called up ford asking for a History 999, or build sheet and soon it will be in my mail box. I'll scan it whenever it gets here.

I went to the Blue Oval Forums yesterday and joined. I then went to the Ford employee sub forum and gave a gentleman my VIN #. Today he provided me with the two PDF files below, and all the dates of my build timeline. I have the window sticker laminated but it was cool to have one as a PDF file on my computer. Cool stuff
Here are the dates:
***I ordered the car on 10/26/2004
Receipt Date: 10/27/2004
Serialize Date: 10/28/2004
Segment Date: 11/29/2004
Blend Date: 11/29/2004
Produced Date: 12/6/2004
Gate Release Date: 12/6/2004
Ship Date: 12/6/2004
Arrival Date: 12/15/2004
Sold Date: 12/16/2004
