Broken Radio Up/Down Arrow Button

This started off as a "little thing", and now it's a major pain in the a$$. The little up/down arrow button to the right of the CD slot on my Shaker 500 stereo broke (2008 GT Premium). Dealer says, "You'll have to buy a new stereo". Aftermarket places only sell button covers--won't work. So short of thievery, does anyone know where the hell I can buy one of these flimsy little pieces of...plastic?

Little button, giant pain.

Thanks in advance. My very first post so forgive me if the formatting is off.

Dave

Check ebay. They may have the whole stereo cheaper or check local junk yards

Thanks Maverick1125, I did check ebay...cheapest I can find is still right around $100. My local Pay and Pull currently doesn't have any Mustangs in my age range.

You might can take it apart and replace the microswitches under that button. They're just wave soldered on, and you can get them in lots of places online, or like for me in Houston, EPO or ACE Electronics. Might even can at the Frys.

Just an idea. I'd be in, because why not. It's broke already. Alternatives is the ebay, junkyard, and aftermarket, so...

Thanks houtex,

That's a darn good idea. The switch itself is working, it's the little plastic tabs on the decorative button that are causing the issue. But those switches do go out...so I'm going to save this for the time when they give it up. Again, many thanks!

Oh! Not the actual switch, but the round thingy. Well, in that case... looky what I found:

http://replacementradios.com/ford-mu...cf-p-1483.html

NOT a plug. Not even an endorsement. Just... well, a lil' somefin I happened across just now. If it works, If it don't,

BUUUUTT.... it's $150 for the set. You have to buy the set. Can't just get that button solo. Might as well buy a used/broke one off ebay/junkyard and scavenge the buttons that way... Or maybe it's time to upgrade to that Raxiom in car nav unit for '05-09...

Perhaps Krazy Glue, or Plastex is in order. I'd recommend the Plastex, actually... Used it myself on similar item for my motorcycle. http://www.plastex.net/

Pics of the damaged part if possible? Might help us help ya maybe...
