Brake checking someone is a risk I'm not willing to take. I like my car too much to have it damaged due in part to my own actions. Not to mention risking my life, the person behind me, and other families on the road. Besides, with my luck the person behind me wouldn't have insurance and I'd be left paying the bill.

I have uninsured motorist coverage, living down here in florida with a bunch of illegal aliens its worth it. Plus if you cant stop you most be following to close or not paying attention. Since I purchased my Mustang I have never dealt with so many A-HOLE drivers in my life. People cutting me off, pulling out in front of me, flashing there brights at me, or like stated me passing them completly legally and them turning there brights on and getting on my ***. And for the record it was a back water road with no traffic. I probably would have felt bad if they swerved into on comming traffic and got hit, but only for a second.

It's happened to me, and I've only had my car one month. Before I owned one, I never flashed S197 drivers when they used them.

BTW, I use the fog lights all of the time, even daytime w/out the main lights on. Sorry some of you don't approve.

As soon as the police hear the story, I don't think they would just let you off as if it wasn't your fault at all. They will probably give you a reckless driving ticket.

And, even if you don't pay anything because of insurance covering it, there are other issues:

You will lose your car for a month while it is getting repaired. And, the car will never be the same and will automatically depreciate. Good luck on paint matching. Good luck when selling it when someone noticing that it's been rear-ended and, depending on the repair, possibly "cliped". Someone that knows how to buy a used car will notice that.

+1 to using my foglights all the time!

Plus, since they are HID they blast the car in front of me. It's good to see noticeable bailing out of the lane ahead of me.

The round lights in our grille are not fog lights. I repeat, they are not fog lights. The GT500 and V6 Pony Package are equipped with fog lights. The GTs have auxiliary driving lights.

I love the round reflector pattern because it makes the lights much more effective than the fancy aero style reflectors.

Almost every pick up truck and SUV have lights that will blind oncoming traffic or cars in front of them. No one seems to care.

It's time for pay back...

I have had car after car "hi-beam" me for having them on. I like to drive with no headlights and just the "auxillary driving lights" during daylight. It is more noticeable than just the regular headlights.

One guy that didn't like what he thought were hi beams almost ran me off the road by tailgating me, etc. I was waiting for him to do something reallly nasty. I can see where this could get out of hand.

What kind of vehicle was he driving? The reason I ask is because almost any pickup truck or SUV will have headlights at such a level that it will blind the car in front of it, or in the opposing lanes. Perhaps no one does stupid stuff like tailgating, when it comes to pickup trucks because the other vehicle is big. The Mustang is a smaller car so they feel like picking on it?

Sorry to disagree but ...

The owner's manual calls them fog lamps. They also have a little black metal piece that directs/blocks the light pattern, and finally they are tied to the low beam circuit which would indicate fog lamps. They do not have the long distance light pattern of a driving lamp (typically 15 degrees) which should only be used with high beams.

I plan on modifying my harness and putting PIAA 40 series driving lamps up there. I'm also considering either the PIAA 520 ion fogs or if there is room, the PIAA 525 dual beam lamps.

My Crown Vic's lighting sucks so badly, I want to duct tape or bolt 8 driving lamps all around the front end. I love the GT's front auxiliary lamps. The Guigaiaroarorororo 2008 concept took these out. If Ford gets rid of them for 2008-up, like they did in 1970, I'll be very upset.

Sorry Sir, a gator was crossing the road. I had to stop. If he wasn't so close he could have stopped in time too.

Seriously, if it is a windy day you get dead palm prawns flying across the roads. Those things can do serious damage to a paint job. In that case I hope nobody is right on my tail.

I would suspect that anyone dumb enough to run you off the road isn't right in the head and probably doesn't care about the consequences of their actions. Personally I don't seen anything wrong with returning the favor and flashing your brights at them.

As for my stance on idiot/crazy drivers they come in all shapes and sizes. What amazes me is the number that get agressive and intimidate you with their vehicle.

I remember the training they gave us at work on how to not deal with them. The program brought up some rather interesting points. The first was that you don't know what kind of whacked out degenerates are out there or how far they will go to 'get even' with you. Of course they told us to be passive, and avoid eye contact with the monkeys. Another point they made was that the company vehicles stand out, a shiny new car stands out too. It was also hinted at that your existence is enough to provoke a crazy person, remember they are crazy and don't think like normal people.

So be careful out there, we don't want to read about any of you in the news.

That doesn't matter...in fact, if you stop in the middle of the road, it is worse. I know someone who got rearended because he stopped in his lane to not hit a turtle or some other animal.

The police said it was his fault, because he was blocking the flow of traffic, or something like that.

They are FOG lights...Hau Tai Tang is even quoted as saying so, being quite proud of it as they are pretty much the only true fogs out there on cars versus driving lights. (Wish I could find that article he said that in).

I've been flashed before...but usually flashing back fixes the problem rather quickly as I'm sure they're seeing blue dots in front of them afterwards.

Going to post on this since just last night I was following my mom back from a nephews B-day party.
Cell phone rings, "Turn your brights off"
I laughed, and turned the brights on, and asked hows that!

I do get the occasional flash from oncoming traffic, but usually its when coming over a hill.

I think maybe I need to adjust them a tad down. My rear is dropped approx 1" and that obviously affects the aim. But it doesnt seem bad to me, I dunno.

Are they easy to adjust?

I was driving home on the freeway friday night. I'm in the left lane and i'm approaching a ford focus from behind. As i get up the focus it moves over one lane to the right and i pass by. Then he gets behind me and turns on his bright lights and begins flashing his bright lights on me. I'm thinking WTF? Then I remembered that my fog lights are on and this nut must think my brights are on. I continue to pull away and soon this guy reaches his exit and I continue on my way. This is not the first time something like this has happened. It seems whenever i use the fogs they seem to attract lunatics.

Was it dumb for ford to mount the fog lights so high? I wish ford would have put the fog lights low as they are on the roush frontends.

Have you had similar fog light altercations?
The SVTF Euro package with the HID mains/halogen brights had the brightest friggin high-beams you ever saw. If you held the flash to pass without clicking it you could light up the HID's, the fogs(same as the cobra's), and the brights...

Although nothing is more annoying then most factory HID's(imho the dumbest fad ever since navigation units) or the superbright headlights on pickups. I think most Mustang headlights are fairly low aimed though and don't consider them bright at all to oncoming traffic.

I know what you mean, I actually have hit a turtle, was to risky to swerve and miss, I must of dragged the poor guy 1/2 mile probably caught on my K member. If you hit a Gator thats MASSIVE damage. The moral of the story is, If you dont wanna rearend someone dont get on there ***, because the cop wont care. Its all about what you can prove.
