Brenspeed Detroit Rocker Cams

I had these cams installed yesterday at their shop with Pypes long tube headers. I also have a C&L Racer CAI and factory 3.55 gears. The car is loud because of the FR500S axle back. The car put down 320 at the wheels with 311 in torque. The cams sound great with not much loss of low end torque.

Here is a link to my dyno run:

In the wonderful words of Jeremy Clarkson, it sounds "like Barry White eating wasps!"

Absolutely fabulous!

Sounds sick! Those mufflers sound a little raspy though.. I'm guessing you're not running cats?

Not my cup of tea, but hey if your happy Seems like a bit of a low gain for cams though, even compared to the hot rod comparable line no?

Depends on what your car starts with. These 3v motors have dynoed as low as 240 and as high as 280. I do not have a base line to start with. My guess is that stock the car had about 260rwhp. With my upgrades 320rwhp is pretty good.

Idle sounds high - it should idle around 750 - 800 RPMS. With my hot rods it sounds choppy with the lower idle almost like it is popping popcorn. Nice cams - but I would have Brenspeed lower the idle.

Ummm, I'll save my complete thought. The cams might be cool, but I'm not a fan of rasp at all and those are raspy as hell. Good numbers. Sounded like it was higher than 6500 rpms.

Some people (myself included) bump the idle to smooth out the idle some. A chop like the HR's just makes me cringe with the though of "oiling issues," call me crazy

Those Cams would be my next mod if they were legal in the state of progressive failures.

Everyone that I know that has put longtubes on their car took off the KR mufflers. You might try some Magnaflows Cams sounded good after they got to idle.

I've read that. Seems like the KR's are best with an H-pipe and no long tubes.

How do the KR's work with shorty headers and H-pipe?

dang it, now I'm getting wishy-washy about buying these cams. they sound great from brenspeeds vid's, but i'll be running Slp Loudmouths with Pypes Long tubes. h-pipe and cats. Sure wish someone would get this same setup so I could hear it before I buy it. On a side note my car was dyno'd at 287hp and 314hp stock with only my Slp Loudmouths on.

Obviously which muffler you run depends on what kind of sound your gonna get, brenspeed was running macs in those vids i believe...

.

You have a good point. I was thinking the same thing. I might just get everything and see how it sounds with my Loudmouths. If I don't like it I can always buy the Mac's from Brenspeed. They're only about $330 and it's something i can easily change out myself.

I had loudmouths with NSR cams and it was just as loud as my present setup. The two Brenspeed cars have different mufflers. Chandler's car has the Mac's and the other car had the Flowmaster American Thunder. They cost $359 on Brenspeed's website. Chandler actually recommend the Flows to replace my FR500S mufflers.

Good to know. My only worry was the raspyness. I can set of car alarms in parking garages now with just the Loudmouths. I can only imangine what would happen with longtubes and that setup!

The flows sound really good at idle but get pretty raspy when you get on it! Theres a couple mufflers that would sound really good, macs, magnaflows, stingers just to name a few. Those aren't stingers in your vid right cause I see stingers in your sig but those don't sound like stingers!
