Boomtubes Installed

I can't believe I actually did it.

I remember telling myself nothing too major until the end of the warranty, but after seeing some boomtubes in action, I just couldn't hold myself back.

Well I took before and after video for all of you to check out:

BEFORE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbcVAmAfQ8A
AFTER: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Se4Q-iXA8I

I've gotta say, that this is a must have. I love turning the car on.

I have boom tubes also and I love 'em and hate 'em. I love how they sound but I hate how they're lowering my gas mileage now because I'm always revving the motor and shifting later just so I can hear the roar of the motor.

One thing I'd change is to make it louder at idle. It seems rather tame from inside the cabin. I plan to install high flow cats in the future with a MAC pro chamber. This should make it louder and even deeper at idle and across the rpm range. The pro chambers are known to create a deeper tone although the boom tubes are pretty deep already.

Where they hard to get on?
Did you have a box wrench? If so, what size is needed?

As you can see, I am about to pull the trigger on these.

Thanks

I had a box of wrenches, but all you'll need is a 15mm wrench and a 1/2" wrench to get the job done. Also something to lift the rear end of course, I used rhino ramps. It's a pretty easy install. I would say the hardest part if at all was getting the factory rear-axle's off, because of the hard to reach bolts.

Get yourself some ratcheting box wrenches. It'll save a whole lot of time getting into the tight spots like the bolts for the rear muffler hangers. You will barely be able to see some of the rear hanger bolts so you'll have to feel around for them and guide the box wrench on top of the bolts with your fingers. A ratcheting box wrench will allow you to stay on the bolt and wrench away. With a regular box wrench, you'll have to feel for the bolt, place wrench on bolt, turn wrench, lift wrench off bolt, feel for the bolt, place wrench on bolt, turn wrench, lift wrench off bolt, feel for the bolt, place wrench on bolt, turn wrench...well, you get the idea.
