Y'all ain't gonna believe this

My aunt lives down in the part of alabama where I am convinced all the extras from Deliverance live............

We had to go down there to that godforsaken hole for Mothers day.

Today I noticed a sound--- sounded like a pig squealing. Her POS ten mile long Piece of crap driveway

I either have
A) a rock lodged somewhere in the wheel
B)threw out a wheel bearing navigating that craphole.

Are wheel bearings under warranty at 27K miles?

More than likely stone stuck in the brake caliper rubbing on the rotor .Either that or you hit a pig ...so here's how to fix that .

(1) look under car .
(2) remove pig.

Man I should charge for this call.

re:

I'd check it out soon as possible if its stuck in the brake. You don't want any nasty huge scratches in the rotor!

I had the same problem last year. Small stone stuck between the Brake Disc Shield and the back of the rotor. Jack up the car at the location of the wheel where you think it's the loudest and rotate the tire by hand. You'll hear high pitch screeching as you rotate the tire. The shield is held on with 3 bolts and you may have to remove it.

I ended up removing the tire so I could see the stone and then pushed the shield back a little and the stone fell out.

Ahh You mean I have to deal with this crap for 2 more days? I will not have time until Saturday. Its SO Embarassing!!! Have I told all of you today I miss working from home?

Its not a wheel bearing- been there done that in the last car. Totally different sound with this one. Its like nails on a chalkboard.

One lesson learned: I will NEVER go to that place again-Only went and took Ellie this time because they have a kick flower nursery down there.

Is it possible it is the wear indicators on the pads or is it squeeling all the time?

I don't know- its like a grinding squeak. Different than the normal mustang squeak.

My brakes have squeaked since day one- I have had it in for service on that many times with no fix.

Since you brought up the movie Deliverence and pig squeeling, was Ned Beatty anywhere near by? If you ever watched that movie, you know what I mean.

April theres a T.S.B. out for the rear brake shoes squeaking ,if you belive that's the problem take it back to the dealer and have the new pads put on the rear if you think the noise is from there.I had mine done last year because of this ,no squeak after that and no pig either.

She has been throwing off pebbles for days now. I think its dislodged.....But to be safe, I am having my Dad jack her up and look for extras. No longer making nutso noises.

Stupid little rocks and stupid hillbilly towns.

April,
You have a gravel stuck between the rotor surface and the backing plate,
more than likely. By the way those photos above had to have been stolen from my family photo album. At least thats what my mother/sister told me.

It finally loosed itself. The poor thing has been throwing out rocks all week- it sounded horrible, flinging them out all over. NOW she is back to "normal" And I can resume driving for fun.
