I have been busy moving, so the 05 has been at the back of my mind. I got a check in email from my dealer today:
Please shed light?

Hi April,

Hope all is well ... I have been reading at quite a few places about people
saying they have Stangs ordered ....this is not true ... I promise you ...
I am staying on top of things ...only new info I have heard of is some sort
of suspension package on the GTs ...will let you know when I know more ...
it will definitely be October before the first ones are here.

Well, from what I can tell, he's partially right. People have ordered their cars, but Ford hasn't officially entered them in the system to be built (i.e. assigned VINs). I don't know id consider that not ordered, though. Maybe someone else can shed more light on it.

EDIT: Also, the suspension package almost sounds like a bullet type of SE with a lowering package.

The move was a blessing in disguise..

I won't get one until March of 05- right around the spring sales event, and rebates and $$$ back hopefully. Plus I can see them on the road, and see whats going on with them.

Maybe kevinb can shed some light on the subject. He mentioned a couple weeks ago about Ford dealers placing orders into the system during week 22, but then having to actually buy the cars from Ford during week 24. Does anyone know when the big day is that we all need to be calling our dealers and making sure they buy the cars from Ford that we have all ordered? It should be coming up soon.

Week 24 is the week starting June 13. So if they can be entered on that week, you can call Sunday the 13th.

About the suspension package: it was mysteriously removed from the order guide. What that means, no one quite knows.

That was my thinking too. Perhaps it was just a salesmen that had heard info about a suspension package, and doesn't know it was cut ... Or that the suspension package is the SE in march .. AGH!

I don't think it will be an option. But it WAS there so I think there must be something to it??

Unless they are grouping all the cool options (18's, ducktail, suspension etc.) and making a special edition? I REALLY have no clue.

If there was a March SE, don't you think we'd have heard something more than 1 engineer at a show about it?

I doubt there will be anything. Its too soon.

......and don't forget KaptinGT's hint that he's heard this also (his dad works for product development I think).

Plus, what would compell the engineer to make something like that up? I think there IS something, its just a matter of when next year.

I'm not sure how much lower this car needs to be. It is darn low especially compared to the current car. Perfect or very near perfect IMO.

From what I've ever heard from Ford's development people (such as Amy V6's father) they don't tell anyone anything, even their own family.

Think about it this way: If you were Ford, you know you have a winning product. You know your Mustang Enthusiasts want to get their hands on it. Most of them will be paying MSRP or more to get the car from you. So some of them shell out about $30,000 or so to get it in October. However, while this is all going on, you have waiting in the wings a Special Edition of the car which is going to run at least $2000 more, which some of these same enthusiasts will have gladly paid. Five months is nowhere near enough time to get the proper selling cycle on a brand new body and design that a lot of people just plain love. And with vert production starting in Jan, I just don't see how they will get enough cars out.

On the 99 redesign, it took them what, 2 years to get the first SE on that body style? Thats what everything was saying before the engineer said anything. I for one am disregarding it. If one does come out in March, I know I'll be mighty pissed. There is a business practice that a lot of companies use: one of your best customers comes before 10 of your average customers. Meaning simply, make the people who would spend the money happy by letting them know, and the people than would wait, they can keep waiting.

yeah i agree with grant. i dont know if they will have an SE in march or not. i think they will show the concept of on for the 06 model year. in march the production will only have been in full bore for a few months. how can you go and throw another product in the mix so soon? and if there is something in march. i be that it will maybe have this suspension package that has disappeared. a different spoiler, and the 18 inch wheels

Grantsdale, yeah, but 01 was the start of SE for the GTs and ford realized they could capitalize in future years

no dealer can place an order for a mustang until week 26 or july 1-7 2004 and then again the order banks will open on weeks 36 thru 39 or sept 9- oct 1
2004. each and every dealer in the us will have the opportunity to order 2 and only two at that time. i have the letter that was sent to all ford dealers but no way to scan and post. if someone has a fax i will fax it to you so it can be posted.

This is not correct. The only allocation info released by Ford,as of yet , was the letter to small Select dealers referenced above telling them they would get 2 cars. Big dealers have not been told how many they are getting.
SOON. :bang:

from what I've heard, week 29 is when Ford actually begins to confirm "wholesaled" orders from dealers. Where the commitment is made from dealers to buy their orders. VIN's are not generated to LATE in the build process, actually, not untill they are IN production.

Here is a link to a copy of the letter sent by Ford to the dealers:

http://forums.stangnet.com/attachmen...chmentid=24325

After reading the letter I think that this person is confusing ordering with assigment of allocation.

anybody thinkin' that so-n-so had mistaken the vert for an SE. March is about the right timing for the vert, if I remember correctly, (if i'm wrong about that date, please excuse me for my ignorance). Anyone ever played the game telephone? It makes me wonder if that is not happening. Ex. Ford is going to debut the new Converible in March.... Fords going to debut the new vert in march... Fords debuting something new in march. .. in march ford will debut some new mustang... One of the new variations of the mustang will debut in march... A special edition Mustang will debut in march. This seems really likely to me.
