Ball Joint...Tie Rod Replacement.

Lately, my car at 56,000 Miles has had excessive steering wheel shake under hard braking. At my Inspection a few months ago, the shop told me that my driver's side tie rod had too much play in it. I have really noticed the steering wheel shake in the last week. So, I think it is about time to get it fixed. I looked up on Google Tie Rod Replacement on S197s and about my mileage or lower seems to be the average time for these parts to fail. Any thoughts here? Thanks! I'm planning on calling the shop tomorrow.

Have you checked to see if your rotors are warped?

I haven't had a shop check but that was my initial thought. But, my roommate who is a car guy looked at my car and felt the play in the ball joint rod areas. Now, I'm curious again about the rotors.

The shop I went to a while back that did the inspection I mention in the first post said that my tie rods were too loose and would need/recommend replacement in a few months...so right about now....

But...

Hmm, my roommate knelt down and shook the car side to side by grabbing the front tires. He also felt inside the wheel towards the tie rods...how do you do it?

Warpage. I've experienced that on other vehicles.

you can buy almost new rotors for like 60 bucks. Check youtube on how to check tie rod ends and ball joints.

For that kind of money, you can buy new rotors. I bought Powerstop, slotted and drilled rotors. They are maybe a little better than stock, but they look good. I think you are getting hosed on the price of the re-surface of the those rotors.

Oh by the way, if they are that warped there is no guarantee that they will meet minimum specs. when they are done re-surfacing.
