Listen, don't make posts like that. Whether he wants a v6 or a GT is his decision, not yours. Maybe its a money issue. Maybe its an insurance issue. Maybe its something completely different. You don't know, so don't act like you do.

As this is an early build, I think that perhaps the paint application program was wrong. Approximately 8" right down the center of the hood appears underpainted. It has a lighter, mottled appearance. The dealership has their own body shop, but it is my understanding that adjacent panels will also receive some paint. I really like this car without stripes. Sorry, I don't have a digital camera and I doubt that the defect would show up in a photo. Thanks all for your input.
Seems like you have some dry-spray down the centre of the hood.

Now, look at your options.

-You can have the dealer re-paint the hood, they can match it up perfectly, especially because the paint is brand-new and has not been subject to the elements. With modern paints, they will not fade at a different rate so much that it will be noticeable.

-If you V6 has an IUP, keep in mind that you won't be able to get it on the car anymore, so unless they can find one on the lot to your satisfaction, I would keep this car and get the hood repainted.

I did return it as planned, and as for *****, I already have two. I don't care for the looks of the GT. I suppose that I could buy a GT, delete the fogs, replace both bumper covers and modify the rear cover to allow retention of the original dual exhaust system, but I won't. If Ford offered a V8 with the looks of the V6, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Mine had a spot on the hood similar to what you are talking about. After I Zaino'd it (clay bar, one coat of Z-5 and one coat of Z-2) it cleared it all up and has never come back.
Which of the above mentioned problems were you refring to?

I have the legend lime GT and I noticed what seemed to be the EXACT same problem...I shined a light from different angles and the paint is the same....I ran it by the Ford dealer and we looked at a V6 he had...same thing....
We came to 2 conclusions..
1. It's ALL the legend lime cars (that we could find)
2. It's an optical illusion due to the "peak" of the center of the hood and the metallic shade of the paint.

He offered me the same deal...but since no one else but me noticed it (and I am planning on Le Mans Stripes) I told him to hold on and see if Ford puts out something.

Now if I can just get a bolt to fix my rear end...!!!

yea what Kevin said.......

Jeez......Don't get my dander up! :nono: :nono: Some people prefer the v6- and there is NO shame in it. I like my pony, I like my ponies.......And I betcha this poster does too.

I would try the repaint first, then if it still is no good- get a new one.

How about a little tact man, I ordered a V-8 bacause i just wouldn't have it any other way, same for the 5 speed...but actually, i think the V-6 is a better and maener looking car, right down to the wheels and lack of foglights, I wish the V- 6 body was the GT version, and the V-6 actually goes pretty good not to even mention the price...so i can more than understand why people are ordering it, so how about, TO EACH IS OWN!!

dannygat: Can we send you back, make you grow a brain, and get a life???

Sorry, had to be done... as my daughter would say, "looooohooooserrrrherrrr!"
I echo everyone else, and even though he didnt have to state his reasons for purchasing a V6, he did, and they are perfectly good ones. ANY reason is perfectly good, really. When he hands you his paycheck you can tell him what to do with his money.

As for the topic.. at first blush I would have said repaint. But, really, I would think the Legend Lime would be pretty difficult to get right without the entire car being repainted. I could be wrong, I dont know much about paint, it would just seem the case since it looks to be a multi dimensional paint, instead of flat.

So, I think you did the right thing... Course, you could have made Ford pay for it to go to a shop that does paint, and have them do it. I know the shop I am taking my car to will be guaranteed to not fade, or chip for the life of the car. Its also $8,000 for a regular body paint job, and 8 weeks of work. I doubt Ford will pay for that.

How did the re-order come out? Did you get IUP? Whats your wait time looking like?

dannygat-

You are not an asset to this forum. I suggest you take your egotistical, cocky attitude and leave this forum. You contribute absolutely nothing except insulting people's choice of cars. If I didn't know you have owned Mustangs before, I would guess you are about 11 and just realized how to logon to the internet.

Dannygat,

I own a GT...but I really like the V6 manual's....how cool is something that's looks hot, drives like sex, AND is economical and insurance-wise cheaper?
Oh..that's right you're one of those "fronting" Camaro owners who has nothing better to do than stir up troubles on the Mustang board.

Later...Much!

Ignore the Troll, maybe he will go away.

I had the same situation with my 03 Audi A4. Paint on the hood looked damaged by something dripping on it and they could not get it off. This was one day after getting the car. They wanted to repaint the hood, NO WAY. I hear what you all say about the modern paint systems but the bottom line is the paint job is only as good as the guy with the gun in his hand. If it started to show later the dealer would have said "sorry, we fixed it like you wanted". I insisted on a factory baked finish just like the car was supposed to have. Didn't want to own a brand new car with a repainted hood because of something the dealer did.

I told them to swap it with the identical new car sitting on the lot and then they could do what they wanted to with it. They resisted that idea but finally caved in and agreed to do it. Perfect match, looked great.

Get chewed on for not searching and using previous threads, get chewed on for doing it.

I do have to admit though, I should looked at the date of the jerkwads post and ignored it. Other than that, I see nothing wrong with bringing this up. Id love to know how it all turned ou t.
