Hello all,

Well I am back in the states from my three year stay in Europe (Italy and Germany) I was working as an Expat for an Americian Company and now with a new position and pay I took a job here in beautiful North Carolina. I am from California but I must say I think the southern hospitality is far the best I have found next to South Americians (My Wife is Colombian so I have to say it)

I got married in Jan 2005 and brought my new bride over with me. We got our new Apt and HER new car (Honda) even though her DL is from the UK. (Yes I know UK and Colombian? She went to University in England for 6 years and became a citizen)

Well we are going to through immigration paperwork. In 90 days she gets her tax ID which will allow her to work. And amazingly she has been offered jobs left and right due to her knowing English, Spanish and German. I wished I would get jobs offers like she was getting.

Back to the job, Once she gets that she can then pay for her own car and that leaves me with .............

A OPEN SPOT TO BUY A NEW CAR!!!!

A little info on me, 1991 joined the Air Force and stationed in Washington states. Was looking for a used car. Spoted a Camero Convert. 1969 (I think) but it was in awful condition. My friend Robert called me over to look at a blue car.

WOW! A beautiful midnight blue 1967 289 Mustang w/ deluxe int. 3 speed.

I fell in love and she was mine. For that year I enjoyed her with small talks from people all over the city that admired her. And with girls chatting me up I was in heaven. She (the mustang) gave me the independence I have never had before in any auto I have ever owned.

Well on a cold winter morning heading to work I slipped on black ice and crunched her left side. She was a loss.

I told myself I would own another one in my life. I looked for 67 Converts for a long time. But now the 2005 has caught my eye.

Now I am older and have the cash (well she has the cash and I have to ask) I am really wanting one.

Here is the deal, I can get X-plan through my company. I just have to used the cust # that i use to call Ford and they give me a number to give to the dealership. I have been been putting that on hold. (I hold I understand that the number will get me an X-plan.

I am looking at a 2005/06 Convert Back w/ charcoal int. Priem. GT.

What is the price I will be paying to obtain that dream?

I mentioned the X-plan at the dealership that emailed me and he said no. Reading through the site I heard people talk about invoice and paying some amount about that. I mentioned that too (about Invoice) and the dealership kinda luaghed and said invoice has nothing to do on this car.

I said my goodbyes and now I am looking for advice. I do not need the car now but if I can get the ball rolling and have it built I can wait a few months. But how do I go about this? And what would I be expexted to pay?

Please advise,

Regards,

FV

Hey there. Welcome to the board & welcome back to the states. Also congrats on the new marriage.

Let's see. You are in NC, NASCAR state, so there should be tons of dealership around willing to help you. So I would just check around at the different car dealers, just like you did with the other. Once you find a dealership willing to play at your price, just tell them what you want & have them order it for you.

Then you can sit back & wait. Also, as stated many time here, make sure everything is in writing & signed before you leave the dealership. This way it makes it harder for them to take advantage of you later.

Anyway. Good luck. And again welcome to the board.

Thanks Kara!

With the X-plan what kinda value am I looking at? And is the GT Conv Preim. starting out at 29k?

If I get a total loaded Mustang what is the price on that? And with the X-plan where does that put me? at MSRP or Invoice?

Or I have to wheel and deal with the dealership?

Please advise,

Thanks

Ciao

I would recommend Dale Jarrett Ford in Charleston. So far I have been very impressed with their customer service.

Contact number for them is 704-283-8521.

Welcome to the board and welcome back to the states!
