went to ford to get our new shakers in today(both GT's need them) and after 4 hours I was told both did not work prpoperly.Radio works, but CD player says error and can't work.Dealer says some "B" versions now have bad software. This is getting old.The installer is not even a ford person, but works for a outside vendor.I was not impressed with his skills either.anyone else have this problem???Called customer service and was told rep will contact me as soon as he knows whats going on.

I've never heard of dealers outsourcing a radio replacement other than sending the radio out for repair or exchange. I always remove and re-install radios at my work.

I wonder if that outside vendor knows about the unit needing to be programmed. The radios in the Mustang and several other new Fords need to be programmed with Ford's computerized scan tool in order to work properly.

That stinks. The first "B" unit recieved at my dealer was sent in a plastic bag. Box no sir a freaking plastic bad and guess what it didn't work. Could have been the fact it was dropped during shipping. The CD slot wasn't straight on the inside. The unit they sent to replace the replacement came direct from the radio maker and its worked great thank goodness.

Yeah, it has been posted before that the 'B' shaker is not the cure. They started to use the 'B' version before the TSB came out.

I got mine replaced after the TSB and so far it is working.

I tried to use my CD player the first day i got my car, lil more than a week ago, so I assume it has the B version, and the Cd player kept saying error. Drove around for a while, turned car off, let it sit and tried again after firing her up and havent had any problems since with the CD player/error.

I have the B version and haven't had an issue. I guess that is one of the benefits to waiting forever.

I recieved my GT on 3/31/05. I have a "B" version of the Shaker 1000 and have had no problems. <knocking on wood>

I almost thought I had the skipping problem until I remebered that the 1st track of Operation Mindcrime is very short and there is a slight delay between the tracks with the MP3 player.

I am on my 3rd Shaker....this one and the one before were "B"s. All 3 (yeah, even my newest one) started with occasional "Bad Discs"....then it's downhill from there until no cd's are readable. My 3rd one was just put in last tuesday and has already had 5 or 6 "Bad Disc" pop up. I like the sound and look of the radio....but the reliability stinks.

My Shaker 500 produces low volume white noise that increases in volume and then lowers by itself it the radio in on very low. I don't know if it is a "B" unit or not and I haven't had a chance to take it in. It isn't noticeable with the engine running.

Some people have "A" versions that work fine also. I guess it is a luck of the draw.

Mine does too. I guess they do not have enough radio work to justify a radio repairman's salary. So they have a guy come in on Thursdays to perform any radio work.
