B&M | Hurst hosting American Muscle Car Challenge, Auto Club Speedway 05/17/09

American Muscle Car Challenge
May 17th, 2010
Auto Club Speedway, Fontana, California

B&M and Hurst, with the help of a host of friendly sponsors*, are hosting a fun-filled track day at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California on May 17, 2010, billed as the American Muscle Car Challenge. Why American muscle cars? In the last 5 years we’ve seen a revival of the glory days of big horse power American cars with a twist…These new American irons can stop on a dime, and handle the corner as well as they can go FAST. There will be 25 spots reserved in each session for 2005+ Ford Mustangs, 2008+ Dodge Challengers, and 2010+ Chevrolet Camaros. Each group will get 4 sessions of 25 minutes each for nearly 2 hours on the track to improve their driving skills. THERE WILL BE A TROPHY AWARDED FOR THE MOST IMPROVED DRIVER IN EACH CATEGORY! This event will be a high-performance driving education featuring highly qualified instructors in each passenger seat offering invaluable tips on how to drive fast, drive safe, and have the most fun in a late model American Muscle car LEGALLY. This event will be utilizing the 1.45 mile infield course of Auto Club Speedway. Price is $165 per entrant.

Helmets of Snell M2000 or SA2000 or later standards are required, rental helmets will be available upon request for an additional fee, since this IS a high speed, high performance driving event. Basic tech inspection will be required.

*So far, a list of sponsors have committed to be present and help with the event includes:
Eibach
BF Goodrich tires
Magnaflow
Magnuson Supercharger
Galpin Auto Sport
Hurst Performance Vehicles
B&M
Hurst Shifters

…With many more to be added. This surely will be one of the more exciting events in the first half of the year and have already garnered quite a bit of buzz on the internet. When registering for 2005+ Mustangs, please be sure to add the event to cart and go through the check out process to complete registration. Please go to BMRacing's website --> Motorsports tab --> Motorsport Events category --> And select the American Muscle Car Challenge Mustang Entries to register.

Spaces are limited. If we can not fill all 25 Mustang spaces, the spots may be sold to other competing marks. Registration will close April 30th, be sure to plan accordingly.

At this point, ALL Mustangs are welcome. So far, registration has been open for 2 weeks and we've got 17 Camaros and 11 Challengers signed up, but NO MUSTANGS. So unless other Mustang owners sign up, we will open the Mustang spots to other American make and models (the Camaro and Challenger spots WILL sell out at this rate by the end of the month, so any additional Camaro and Challenger participants will be moved to Mustang spots).

Awww, if it was closer to where I live, I'd go! Why isn't this just for 05+ Mustangs? Seems that, the new Camaro and Challenger would be the only three allowable- is it because of a percieved lack of interest?

it is supposed to be for 05+ mustangs but there seems to be a lack of interest from the Mustang group.

If I lived closer ( I am in Victoria, BC, Canada) I would be there in a hearbeat. I am taking part in track day in Seattle for the Mustang Round Up in July.

Quick update:

20 Camaros

12 Challengers

3 Mustangs

Registration will close on April 30th to give us a couple of weeks to do all the administrative stuff to make this happen.

Think of it this way...$165 for a 1/25 chance to win a set of BFG/Michelins worth over $1K? No brainer. By the way we're trying to convince the rest of the sponsors to also pitch in some products to raffle off through-out the day, so the chances of any participant walking out with a product worth a lot more than their entry fee is pretty darn good. I know we're going to have a shifter for EACH make and model to raffle off too from B&M and Hurst.

The event will be perfect for you, since we'll provide in-car instruction all day.

What I've found in my years of instructing, is that automatic drivers actually "learn" the track faster, since they don't have to deal with all the upshifting and downshifting so they can concentrate on the basics, braking, turning in, throttle balance, and vision skills.

And this event isn't about who's the fastest on track, but awards will be given for who improves the most. I would highly encourage anyone to sign-up, no matter their motorsports experience levels or transmission of choice.

Currently we have:

23 Camaros

14 Challengers

and 7 Mustangs. Mustangs certainly needs to step up and represent here!

Last Call

Folks, we have 18 spots left open for Mustang enthusiasts. Registration closes next Friday on April 30th, and for administration reasons no exceptions will be made.

So if you're on the fence about the event, get your registration in now...Because there will be no wait lists. Be sure to follow this link:

Mustang entries

Add the item to cart and go through the check-out process. Without payment by April 30th (or prior to the spots selling out) we can not reserve a spot for you to drive with your Mustang cohorts. If these spots do not sell out you may also find some Corvette owners driving in the same session.

Due to the relative low attendance of the Mustang, we've decided to not limit the participation to 2005+ Mustangs only. So ANY generation Mustang enthusiasts are welcomed.

Also, the gates to B&M/Hurst will be open at 10:00am Saturday May 1st 2010 for free tech inspection, and close at 2:30pm. These inspections usually last around 15-20 minutes so we can only process about 20 cars in this period, so if you would like to take advantage of the free tech inspection for the event please show up promptly. Inspection will be on a first come, first serve basis.

Also don't forget the 15% off killer deal on HJC helmets for this event. Please order through Ray Miller and pick-up through will-call at HJC's corporate headquarters in Cerritos. I highly recommend visiting HJC's website and picking out a style you like. Currently I am rocking an AR-10 in rubbertone black. If you find yourself in love with this sport after the event, and I promise you, you will...A good helmet goes a very VERY long way. We DO have loaner helmets available for the event, but if you feel yourself "hooked" afterwards, you can still cash in on the discount, which is pretty substantial.
