Last night i ran by my local ford dealer to use their stereo key for my '99... one of the dealers i had been talking to previously spotted me and asked me how long till i get my '05 (i bought it from another dealer, but he's excited to see it when it comes in) and he mentioned that Ford was having axle supply problems, so hopefully it wouldn't have any impact on any of the orders...

well today i called the dealer i bought my car from to check on it (ordered 11/17) and he said the ford rep was there and informed them all that orders would be taking longer because the axles are in short supply.

argh. 2 dealers, same story. Any truth to this? Whats the problem with them?

There has been no news to my knowledge about such an issue.

Ok, let's get this right. You ordered on 11/17. Has the dealer provided you with a DORA, VIN and or build date yet? If he has not provided you with anything you may want to look else where. At this point in the game it shouldn't take more than 2 weeks to get a build date (let me know if I am wrong guys) and your car should show up mid January at the latest.

is there an axle shortage? I have no idea but I have not read any posts or heard anything other than this thread that would say there was an issue.

Ever since I ordered back in May I heard tons of stories and they were just that, stories, as to why the cars were taking so long. All came down to the dealer not having a clue.

You may want to call another dealer and ask how long it took from the last GT that was ordered until it had a build date or was received and see if they know of any axle shortages.

Perhaps they are fixing the whining problem that some people have been complaning about, thereby creating a temparary shortage.

I just changed my exhaust system and turned the radio up, now the only whining I hear is from the person in the passenger seat.

no, but i haven't asked for it, they have my $500 so i'm not going anywhere else.

All came down to the dealer not having a clue.
thats possible, it's a very small dealer. But the fact that i have heard the story from 2 seperate dealers who are not related also brings up questions.

Thats my point. The other dealer said they are having axle shortages too. They have NO mustangs right now. The dealer i ordered from has 2 V6 stangs, and no GTs, mine is the only one on order, it will also be the first GT they recieve.

I meant call a different dealer that is not close by that would not have the same rep.. The rep told my dealer in May that they were not taking orders. I got a call the same night from another dealer (different rep) asking me why I hadn't placed my order yet since they had already taken 3.

good idea. The DORA would tell you the status of your car....if it was on hold, pulled, etc..

adrenalin: off the topic, but noticed your sig, where do you buy the sequential tail lights, or is it some kind of kit?

You might ask to see the Mustang commodity report from last Friday. Dealers get a new one every Friday. It would list components that are available but in short supply.

www.webeproducts.com

I helped the guy figure out how to stop the burst brake light option. Only had them for a few days and they work great.

That’s surprising you don’t have a DORA already. I asked for my DORA and the fleet director told me its standard to send the customer a DORA. I was then told I should look over what was order, sign my name on the side and fax it back to him. This shows the dealer input everything correctly and the order had been placed.

Just a quick question for you adrenalin. Just what is involved in installing sequential taillights. I don't know too much about them. Or did you have them installed by someone else?

i'm not too worried about them not placing the order, i'm quite sure it's been done for a while, but i'll get a dora anyway.

Well for me it’s just nice to know the order was placed correctly. The dealerships are human, they can make mistakes. Maybe I just have trust issues.
