Mine still has the "new car smell"... and 15K on the odometer... and a couple "upgrades"... and 250 passes at the drag strip. I'll take $40K for it.

Edmunds is much more up to date than NADA or Kelly. They use Auctions, retail reports of sales, and regional differences. I have found them right on. They have helped me keep a couple of dealers honest when I was trading in my Explorer.
Here is what they have for that car in my zip code.
trade in, private party retail, dealer retail.
$22,623 $23,824 $26,041
I don't think the price you are considering is out of line at all. Just remember a year ago the vultures were selling that car for 5 to 7k over sticker.
If you are financing the car, the difference in price is about $100 to $150 per month on your payment. That should go towards mods. Like some cool blue stripes. (From one comp white owner to another.)

actually, this car was babied, and you can tell...
it still has a little new car smell left...
yes, I could buy a new one, but its actually about 6-7k more if you option it out the same.
does that change your mind, or not?
i'm thinking I can get it for about 23.5k or so, is that good or not?

A lot of dealers were greedy with in stock showroom models. There were plenty of people here who ordered & waited for their 05 GT for that same price & got theirs with 1 to 6 miles on it. It took me just over 10 months of daily driving to put on 10,000 miles. Something to consider. But if your comfortable with it & can't wait, & love the car that's all that matters.

By the way, you were maybe 13 or 14 years old and you purchased a 2003 Torch Red 10th Anniversary Cobra Convertible (1 of 369)?

I agree with getting a new one at this point in time. I'd only buy the used one if you can talk them down to $23K (and if you can't stand waiting). NADA is showing $26,900 (and it's current since I work in a credit union and update it monthly myself!).

Sorry, but I just don't understand your talk of trading it in on an used 05

I have a 2003 Cobra 10th anniversary edition convertible that I may trade in for an 05...
I was wondering what you guys thought it might be worth...
it has 5800 miles, and is torch red
perfect condition, only in rain about 3 times.
It has full documentation of evey penny ever spent, although it is stock except for a K&N filter and COBRA bumper letters.
Tell me what you think its worth, and if you may be interedted or have more Q's, PM me or just reply
(PS: sorry moderators, but this car is not technically for sale, so please don't put it in the for sale section...I want to see what it may be worth to the enhusiasts...thanks)

Personally, I would look for a new one. Mine was actually a little less than that price new, although I didn't get all the goodies listed on yours. I would think you could get a new one for not too much more. I think paying a little extra for a new one would be worth it.
But again, that's just my opinion. With this one, there's no waiting or searching, and it probably would be a bit cheaper.
