Has anyone checked out AutoWeek.com today? I'm not too crazy about the review they gave, but check out the photo section directly under the link to the article. It looks like they took nearly all of their pics from this site!

The reason for that is because those are all official pictures from Ford given to the media.

About the review, Who pushes their beloved stang's door open with their foot?

They say "Pontiac GTO or even the Nissan 350Z" are the Mustangs competition. Cars are classed by price, right? These two cars on not in the Mustangs price range.

For those that are unaware, You open the door with the handle and you close it with the metal of the door not the window, Closeing the door useing the window is a sure way to screw up the window over time.

Thanks for the heads up
The photos are necessarily from here though, they are all official Ford Media photos.

Its a woman who likes M3's. Most signifigant new vehicle in 5years and they stick the task with her who likes jewlery on cars. She IS Nissan's target customer. She probably drives a dark metallic green accord coupe with nav and the gold emblem package.

lol I agree with the door thing. I don't even treat my truck like that. Some people are just to lazy I guess.

/edit forgot a period, figured I'd add it before someone commented about my being to lazy to punctuate correctly.

The 350z is definitely within the price "range" with a base of 26500. 20-30k is a fair price range, with the GT sitting squarely in the middle. The 350Z is a little higher yes, but not significantly. The 350Z is also a nice vehicle. I test drove one and was pretty impressed overall. For the money, it's a good vehicle. I'll have to reserve slamming it the way some on this forum do until I've actually test driven a mustang.

Not that I will put my foot on the door to open it, but I still really dislike the speaker covers on the front doors so in a way I agree with them on that.

I still have not seen the car in person but I really hope they change the speaker covers after the 1st year, they look bad IMHO. Granted not a big thing, but still something I will have to modify when I get one.

Maybe she would like a diamond plated speaker cover. Plenty of bling for her, and it will make the speaker as tuff as rocks.

Okay lets see here...

Even the shrunken-looking rear quarter-window mimics the vents found on the old fastback.
Hmm... Mimics a 66 Shelby I think, not vents on the older cars.

"industry’s first available color-configurable instrument cluster." Adjusting it takes far too long with too many pushes of the buttons. Perhaps we wouldn’t mind if it used a simple dial.
I probably agree here, a simple dial would do it, but its just a minor detail.

Pretty as it is, there’s not much of a power or performance story here. In a lot of ways the 2005 picks up right where the current car leaves off, only now there is more of it:
Feh...a 40hp gain isn't to bad, 300hp is 300hp, where are the 25k 300hp cars from everybody else? Dodge comes clsoe with the hair dried neon, but thats about it in the sub 30k catagory I think.

The GT, however, settles for the same 4.6-liter V8 it has had since 1996; new three-valve heads give the V8 40 extra horses and 18 lb-ft of torque, up to 300 hp and 315 lb-ft for 2005. A five-speed automatic replaces the four-speed box, while the GT uses the same manual tranny as the current car, a five-speed unit with almost identical gear ratios.
And it should have been what? A 10 rotor wankle, VW sourced W12? I know how bout one of those old airplane engines where the block rotated around the pistons and crank. As for the tranny - If it ain't broke don't fix it. I'm guessing what they really where lokng for was the ricardo transaxle from the GT.

There’s nary a pinstripe in sight, and any chrome you see is relegated solely to badge duty. Message to Ford: Monochrome themes, like ovals, can be taken too far.
Pimp my ride baby, I wanna die of OG (over gold for you old timers)

The door-mounted speaker covers won’t likely survive long, either: They’re positioned exactly where you want to push the door open with your foot.
Minivan engineering concern

All of that we can deal with. What we can’t comprehend is Ford continuing to equip the first 21st century Mustang with a live rear axle. We understand that an independent rear suspension—like the one found on the most recent SVT Cobra—costs more to design and build. Somehow the competition, like the Pontiac GTO or even the Nissan 350Z, squeezed it into the price of admission. One explanation from Ford: A full 25 percent of Mustang owners customize their cars, and the solid rear allows for a much easier change-out of gears. Another: It makes for better drag strip performance. We don’t buy it.
Debated endlessly, Its been shown to be a beancounter call. All hail the beancounter for keeping some personality in the new stang, Don't want a live axle? Guess what, if you save the money you would normally spend on an 05 GT payment, guess what! By the time the new cobra rolls out you will have one hellu'va down payment.

Granted, at $19,410 the base Mustang is considerably less expensive than the Z car (at $27,030), but the $24,995 sticker for the GT warrants an independent rear. You know it’s coming on the Cobra, after all.
No it doesn't thats a Cobra perk, get over it.

All told, the Mustang offers a handsome package wrapped in a historic nameplate, its provenance not dimmed by some of its shortcomings. With that, we’re set for another 40 years. And those tuners have a new starting point.
Agreed

Heh I like the re-review of the article. Shes a schmuck. What a way to drop the ball to let her review the stang.

"The GT, however, settles for the same 4.6-liter V8 it has had since 1996; new three-valve heads give the V8 40 extra horses and 18 lb-ft of torque, up to 300 hp and 315 lb-ft for 2005. She isnt even mechanically inclined. How can you miss an all aluminum engine with 3v VVT. I GUARANTEE she did her entire review from information had from the internet, and nothing as updated as this site. Man the more I read it the lousier the writing looks, my Mustang-bias aside. No effort, no research at all. I hope they didnt pay her to write it. "settles for the same 4.6".......has she lost her mind??? c:

"industry’s first available color-configurable instrument cluster." Adjusting it takes far too long with too many pushes of the buttons. Perhaps we wouldn’t mind if it used a simple dial"

Dumb stuff like this? She needs to be smarter then a 3 button menu screen. "we wouldnt mind"? Honey, I know how to opperate simple electronic devices, Id hate to see you with an all-in-one TV controller.

"There’s nary a pinstripe in sight, and any chrome you see is relegated solely to badge duty. Message to Ford: Monochrome themes, like ovals, can be taken too far."

PINSTRIPES!!!?? wtf car comes with pinstripes

I dont understand what this means, "Monochrome themes, like ovals, can be taken to far"?? This makes no sense whatsoever. Talk about going out of your way to try to consistantly bash something. Im going to try look up some of her other 'reviews' and compare. This has GOT to be someone in the higher-up's daughter.

I knew it, the z is like her favorite car in the world.

http://www.autoweek.com/article.cms?articleId=100162

Note the price too, over $35k.

There is another article about the G35 about how the 260 hp that car makes is god-like.

Actually you don't use the metal either. Grab only the rubber weather stripping at the bottom of the window. You leave finger prints on the paint or window otherwise and then you have to polish the car again!
