You have the same car as me and you autocross, how cool! I have the ICAP and a 5sp. I also run in FS but hope to get a set of stickies for next year. Been doing autocross for 6 years and this is the best car so far for me.

That's cool Richard. I will have the sticky tires before next year and hopefully some shocks by the mid year.

Koni doesn't have shocks out for the 05's yet I thought??? I am looking at H&Rs Coilover kit, sways, and various chassis bracing. Tires will probably be my first suspension mod in the spring. The brakes need to be addressed too. I was thinking Russel SS Brake lines with Hawk HP plus pads. My goal is to make my 05 a competent open track vehicle.

This is a cool topic, I wasnt sure how many S197 owners do autocross. So I guess the Mustang does pretty well at it? I am considering a new stang but wasnt sure how well it would do in stuff like autocross.

The car is very well ballanced. Things like the battery being place at the firewall, the front wheels moved forward and the fuel tanks under the rear seat really helped.

Also, the panhard rod makes that back end very solid. I have autocrossed earlier year (89, 91, 2000) Mustangs and they could get loose pretty easy in the rear with the stock set up.

The 05-06 is very predictable on the track, love it.

You'll have to download the DivX codec. You can find it at www.divx.com

When you talking coil overs you don't have to get shocks with the spring perch like the stock shocks so while Koni doesn't have something specifically for the '05 Mustangs you should still be able to use them for coil overs.

However

That is not the purpose of this conversation.

I haven't seen Koni shocks for the '05 yet. Before making any decisions on shocks I would call Koni to make sure they won't be coming out soon.

Tokico Dspecs would be your best choice out of whats on the market at this minute. Unless Bilstien has something out already.

if your planning on using your aftermarket shocks as coilovers anytime in the future the Tokicos are not up to the job, you will need to wait for the bilstien or konis.

I'm not sure but I don't think you can run Stainless Steel Brake lines in the stock class in a late model car.

I will be getting new pads soon but I am not sure what company I want to go with yet. Hawk is #1 on my list right now but I think that Carbotech may have some pads out for the '05 too.
