Which Transmission do you have or have on order? Or, which will you be buying? There are some cars on the ground now and a lot of demo's have taken place. What are you guys buying and why?

Wife can't drive a stick and doesn't want to learn. I was still going to get a stick, until she said I could get a boxster in 07 if I get an auto now.

Wife and Mom want to be able to drive the car, and quite frankly I've grown tired of having to shift. So I'm an auto guy! I've heard nothing but good things about this automatic. None of the strarting lag like most auto's.

Manual.........Because I firmly believe a sports car should not be an automatic. And I have been driving auto for 5 years now and am quite sick of it. Aside, Very rarely am I stuck in traffic. PLUS the children need to know how to drive stick.
PLUS added bonus- peeling rubber and other fun things!

Means I have to wait a looooooong time for my chosen one to arrive, but HEY! Good things come to those who wait.........

Seems everything I want on the 5 is backordered- spoiler, esp, IUP, Manual. Enough to drive me to drink!!

My Opinion ONlY If you going to have 300 HP to play with, then the manual is the only way to go.

I have heard great things about the automatic but i truly believe you not only have more fun but more control with a manual. I used to have a BMW 325 and currently drive a MINI COOPER S and both are manual trannys. My last car was a New Beetle Turbo with an automatic since my wife wanted to drive it and it hurts her feet due to 'arthritis' to handle a stick shift. I consider the Beetle Turbo and Mini Cooper S are almost the same in acceleration, body weight , and wheel base. I noticed a lot more roll in the Beetle than the Mini and wished i had been driving a stick for the control/engine braking aspect. Yes, you can do this with an automatic but does not feel the same. I just feel more in control and one with the road with a stick but that is just my opinion. The MUSTANG may handle totally different and it may not be as big a factor in taking the turns at larger speeds, but i am thinking it will be needed even more considering the slalom speed of a MINI S is 4-5 mph higher than the new Stang.

I think, from reading all the reviews though, both are capable of laying down the track in the straight and some have even suggested that the auto is faster without the shift time delay of a human arm and foot.

My wife has been griping too about wanting an auto but is my car and she can just soak her feet in epsom salts! :usa:

The stick is fun, in a shifty sort of way. I'll stick with a stick until my knees or hips are too shot to shift.

Manual here! It's fun to drive (as long as you are not stuck in traffic), have more control, and it's cheaper!

I ordered the manual but had I known the excellent performance of the auto, I may have given it more consideration. This is my first GT though, so I want the full experience.

The Sonic Blue '05 GT I was looking at is an auto and it drove nice. It's just that with a manual, I feel more 'connected' to the car.

But - the auto is very, very nice too! And it shifts like a dream.

At this point in my life, with cell phones, PDA's and blackberrys I just don't have enough hands. Had a Porsche for 3 months and got tired of shifting. Glad I didn't make that mistake with this car. Auto for me.

Are you serious? I wasn't.
Take a couple of humor pills. They might help. Or get a chauffer.

I considered the a/t and I believe it would have been an excellant choice. In the end though, I bought a manual because I feel much more in control as most have mentioned.
If Ford were to bring out the auto/stick someday, I would have to give it due consideration, (due to traffic).
