This morning on my way to work I stopped to get gas at the local gas station. I noticed a midaged man in a security guard uniform putting gas into what appeared to be a armoured truck, notice my car as I pulled up.

As Im starting to pump my gas, the man approaches and is looking at my car, I ask him "What do you think, You like it?"

his response

"Too bad they are so darn slow"

Immediatly Im thinking, "Strange, I don't see a mullet he must have recently got it trimmed"

He goes on to say "The true power will be the new Cobra, I guess they are comeing out with those next year, too bad they are useing the wrong supercharger"

Now, Im thinking "WTF, knowone even knows what the Cobra is going to have."

He proceeds with his illogical asinine babble. He disagrees with Fords choice to relase the V6 and GT first. He disagrees with Fords choice for a Roots blower on the new Cobra, he beleive a Centrifugal blower is better. He uses Vortech as a example for a blower Ford should have put on the new Cobra.

Then his motivations finally make themselfs clear, While I engaged him in a conversation about Horsepower of the current and past Mustangs, blower and no blower.

"Thats pathetic, My 2002 Camaro has over 400 ft/lb Torque and thats all motor, no blower"

My gas finished pumping, so I took the chance a break in his babbling provided said "Nice chatting, I gotta be going, have a nice day" and left.

I should have told him off, but didn't feel like starting anything, I was already late for work.

Any other 2005 Mustang owners have any experiances like this?

What a putz! 2002 Camaro with over 400hp STOCK! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

You could get the 5.7l V8 with 325HP. That would be a good test for this stang.

My response to anything any Camaro owner says: If they were worth a darn they'd still be making them.

We were talking about HP, but when he mentioned the power of his 2002 Camero he didn't say HP, he was talking his Torque. I don't know the stock torque of the 2002 Camero so I didn't comment. I found did find it odd that he mentioned Torque but didn't say what his stock HP was considering what we were talking about was HP.

correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the blower on the Cobra motor a screw type and not a roots?

I thought the 03/04 are Eaton roots style blower. Correct me if I am wrong. The GT has a Whipple on it though!! Again correct me if I am wrong.

It is a Roots blower by Eaton. Twin screws (as designed by Whipple) are very simillar mechancally, yet COMPLETELY different on how they process the air. Lysholm, Kenne Bell, and Whipplecharger are the biggest Mfg's of whipple-type blowers. Eaton is by far the biggest producer of Roots. Jackson racing uses Eaton blower units, and Eaton makes just about every OEM one out there including cars like the first-gen MR2 sc /Bonneville ssc/Thunderbird SC/and of course the 04 Cobra.

In a nutshell, a Roots blower uses two screws that send the air directly down, while a Whipple uses two screws that compress and funnel the air down to one end of the blower, cooling the charge. Whipples make much more power per PSI then Roots do due to thier efficiency, but cost more to manufacture.

ok.... origionally I was under the impression that it was a Eaton blower, but then I couldn't find anything on Eaton's website for it. Ok... well, I'd dog a roots blower too, but I wouldn't dog it in favor or a centrifugal blower.... true, they are better than roots, but not better than a screw. Anyways.... I'll shut up now.

For the most part, on the average hot-rod, the whipple blower is the best for most people. It makes great power without much PSI and has a cool air charge. The boost is immediate unlike a centrifugal. A centrifugal also has a low temp charge, but has boost lag. They can make BIG power at the high end, but usually requires a complete custom motor to really shine. At that point the non-accessory driven turbo tends to be a better choice for a power monster. The compact and simple 'added' displacement of a twin-screw whipple tends to be the best choice and most linear feeling for a Mustang GT-type car. Almost every 9+lb boost centrifugal that makes good power on a 4.6 tends to be too much boost for the stock engine internals. A 7-9lb Kenne Bell(or whipple) would be the best do-it-and-be-done-with-it power mod. KB tends to have very complete well-designed kits with good support and trick goodies like the boost-a-pump.

right.... but who wants to waot for turbo lag..... and besides, 8 psi of boost is 8 psi of boost is 8 psi of boost.... if I can't run more than 8 psi, I'd rather have it at idle instead of waiting for a turbo or a centrifugal blower to spool up. Sure, if you want to get rediculous amounts of boost, turbo charge it..... but how streetable do you want your car?

dats what I'm sayin. If you dont have a Sponsor paying for your stuff, stay with an 8 lb-ish whipple.

I had a neighbor, which happened to have a Camaro (what a coincidence!), who would come to MY house to drink MY beer to critisize MY Mustangs and to glorify HIS POS Camaro.

The last time I saw him I asked if we could use his dash as a picnic table. 0:-) He got all upset and proceeded to leave 30' of rubber in my driveway.

BASTARDO!!!
