Hey guys. I was just checking out Sam's website when I remembered that they have an auto purchase program. I qualify for x-plan so I won't be doing the sam's thing as x-plan is slightly cheaper but for anyone not qualifying for x-plan you may want to look into it. It ask for your zip code and then gives you the nearest participating dealer. You pay invoice+3%. On most GT's that would be $750-$900 over invoice. For anyone that can't do better than sticker it would be worth looking into. The mustang is not an excluded vehicle(only the ford GT was excluded) so I would bet that unlike x-plan, the dealers partnered with sam's probably have to honor it. It didn't appear that a lot of dealer's participate, but I would only have to go 80 miles to the dealer it showed on my zip.

I looked into this, and I'm not impressed with +3% at all. Costco does the same thing but I don't know what the price structure is.
The best way to get deals on any car is to find a listing of all the dealers within 40 or so miles, go to their websites and email the sales people asking for price quotes with the options you want. Most of them will email you back asking you to come in and talk, but screw that. You'll get a good number of replies with pricing and pick the best one of those. Who wants to go in and haggle anyway? It's all about competition. They know you are getting pricing from everyone, so they bid their best price to get the sale. Two of my friends did this recently and got their vehicles at or below invoice, and one of them was a Tacoma for $700 below invoice which is unheard of.

I did this and all I got was Spam. None of the dealers were willing to go below MSRP. Most had it above MSRP. I finally had to go with an x-plan and even then it was a pain finding a dealer that would honor it.

The only thing I plan to use Sam's for would be for the actual financing, since their rate is usually below anything the dealer will initially offer you.

We do internet sales for costco/sam's. They have no agreed price structure on 05 stangs, it says 'dealer sets price' or N/A. It's $500 over on 04's( N/A on SVT-Mach). Expy's are like $400 over, Explorer like $100 over invoice, etc
