Anyone prefer the standard interior over the IUP?

I found an '07 GT I might trade in my '06 GT for and it has black leather seats, Shaker 500, but no IUP. It just has the one that has the black dash without the aluminum accents. I know the IUP is an upgrade and has the leather wrap wheel, but I'm starting to think the all black interior looks a little bit better? The black shifter looks awful, but I would just immediately replace it with a Bullitt shifter anyways, so that doesn't matter to me. What do you guys think?

And the reason for wanting to trade for something so similar is to get rid of my automatic and get a stick shift...and also to get rid of owning a black car, plus lower mileage.

I'm happy with my non iup interior. The only thing I wish I had and plan to upgrade to one day is the six gauge cluster with my color. I think that's the only really worthwhile part of the IUP.

I'm happy without the IUP as well. It would have been nice to have, but certainly wasn't a dealbreaker, and I kinda like the simplicity of the base dash after almost five years now. My '08 GT is a Premium with no other options except spoiler delete and 3.55 gears. I did upgrade the shift **** (I've had several now), and the steering wheel to a Bullitt wheel. The steering wheel was my biggest complaint, and I ordered the new wheel the same week I bought my Mustang.

my 06 and 09 are both deluxes, but the 06 I ordered 'interior sport appearance package', it has the leather wheel/shift ****...wasnt a option on the 09, so i bought the leather wheel/shifter off ebay(still in the trunk).
my wifes 07 has the leather/iup/pony package, she likes it, but personally I prefer the cloth seats in my cars...the mycolor/full gages ive thought about upgrading to, but not that much...I really prefer the black dash- but there WAS a dark IUP package available late 06 thru dunno...

get a leather wheel/shifter- they are much nicer to drive, the mycolor? she has never changed the color in hers, its neat, but Ive never missed it. cloth seats are a lot cooler in my opinion on trips.
my 69 has the 'comfortweave' vinyl, i still think that was the most comfortable seating surface ever offered, looked great, yet breathed enough you dont sweat to the seats...really wish ford would bring that back.

I believe mine is the black IUP that was available. Mine is a 08 gt premium but has black leather wrapped steering wheel. Also instead of having the aluminum dash, its like a carbon color. Always wondered how I had this combination.

wow, never saw that wheel before...maybe aftermarket or some special edition? has the 'bumps' in the rim like the shelby wheel, but i thought they still had bright spokes... actually ive never seen a dark IUP in person, maybe they came with a black wheel... only stuff i saw on it was while waiting on my 06 to arrive, remembered reading about it. thats a sharp interior- but still to me, the best looking steering wheel EVER is the one in the 10-current mustangs, followed by the leather/silver 05-09 one... but love that carbon fiber looking dash

Yeah I wasn't sure why it came like that. I'm thinking maybe the owner before had to ordered like that?

thanks. I definitely love the carbon fiber dash. Plus, I don't see that style on many mustangs.

I have the same CF-looking dash on my '07 GT/CS and like it fine.
But that wheel, I love. In fact, I would be interested in buying one.
If you ever replace it, let me know. I will give it a good home.

Is that a Bullitt wheel just without the Bullitt logo in the center?

oh that's really cool. So I have "some" shelby in my car! lol jp. Any reason those were put in some mustangs? Or just for styling? I have black leather, carbon fiber dash. I'm guessing like mine, they were going for a black/dark theme.

How difficult and expensive is it to swap to the 6 gauge MyColor setup?

In 07 the iup became available with either satin aluminum or charcoal aluminum instrument panels. The steering wheel appears to be a bullitt wheel without the logo.

BINGO! The number 1 reason I had to special order my 2007 was for the manual trans and interior sports appearance package. Every Pony Package had the IUP here in north metro Atlanta.

No problem! Yeah, It's one of their 'retro' shift *****. It has the 5-speed pattern on top but you can't tell because my camera whites it out. It was one of my "day one" mods that I did within the first two or three hours of owning the car because I absolutely cannot stand the stock shifter.

The only other mods to the interior are the Ford Racing steering wheel cover, which was given to me and makes the non-leather wheel a little more comfortable, and my custom speaker installations. (note the tweeters below the door handles)
