Anyone here do brakestands?
Heh, I've done them in my '86 since I got the car. Great fun. It only had hopeless drum brakes, which, upon disassembly and inspection at various times, never seemed to have suffered any ill effects.
Now, I daily drive the '08 Bullitt...
Anyone burned out/wore the rear discs from doing burnouts? I've only done a couple; I usually only hold the car in place for 2-5 seconds, those KDWS's light up nicely. Then let off the brake and shift to 2nd, leaving a pair of dark black tracks for a good distance.
Last night I forgot to shut the TC off first! I was in autopilot mode, never had to shut anything off in the old car! The Mustang entered "old guy in parking lot that can't tell between the gas and brake" mode and shut the engine down. I actually got the clutch in but I still had to restart it. At least I wasn't at the track or something.

Or you can heel/toe the brake and gas, but i couldnt ever get that right with the pedal heights i had.
nope.... I don't ever do brake stands
but if I did....I understand that once the wheels have started spinning it doesn't take much brake to keep the car in place. A person can easily burn off two or three sets of tires and still have lots of brake pad left.

have fun!
tires dont last near as long as brake pads
As well, under power in a straight line the clutches should be fully locked up. What is hard on 'em is probably punching it while rolling thru a corner (I find the diff will take a bit to lock here, they left some preload out for driveability.)
Anyway, my rear brakes show no real wear (I examined the running surface of the discs...), I'm now more concerned about that smell when I launch at 4 grand. 3.73's and all, this heavy car will need a clutch by the end of next year I bet.
edit: Mcleod RST!
