Any word of upcoming rebates on the V6
As people have been saying for a while now, don't look for rebates on any 05s this year. Car is selling too quickly to justify it.
Right...no rebates from Ford directly, but there are a few dealers that are offering discounts on the V6 already. I'll paste in a link to a local example here in San Diego. If any dealers within reach of you post their weekly add, you might find a similar deal. Not bad for being this early on in the sales cycle, except that they've only advertised deluxe's w/ manual transmissions and zero options.

ps- i'm not endorsing/promoting the dealer, just sharing info.

Student Rebate
More Info
I got this rebate last December when I got my V6. Back then it was $400 instead of $500.

I find it humorous that people will wait for rebates while Ford slowly increases the price...Give up driving the car for months to save a couple of hundred $$$... :scratch: :bang:

Yes, that usually is the funniest part of it all. People tend to forget the price increases that happen throughout each model year. How many have there been so far? At least 2 that I can think of.
By the time Ford adds $500 to the hood of a V6, the MSRP will probably be $500 more than it was when it originally came out last fall. And by the time the rebates get up to $2000, they'll just de-content the car by $2000 to make up for it.

That's why I was careful to describe it as a dealer discount and not a rebate.

What do you consider to be a "good dealer"?

One that will sell you the car at under MSRP...
This is why so many people end up unhappy with dealer service...There is a local dealer here who wh0re$ everything out, yet has the worst reputation for customer service in town.So selling the vehicle under MSRP makes them a "good dealer" by your definition? Don't take this wrong, as I want to save money just as much as the next guy. But paying MSRP on a Mustang (only about $1000-$2200 markup) isn't the worst thing you could do if it was from a reputable dealer who would stand behind you and go out of their way if you needed favors down the road...

And also, big deal. Buy it cheap, then go to the dealer with the better reputation when it comes to that. Its not like a dealership is going to turn down business because you didn't buy it there.

Trust me on this one...someone who is a loyal customer (sales and service) will get better taken care of in a time of need; i.e. vehicle in for service, need a rental which is not covered, something isn't supposed to be covered under warranty but somehow is taken care of, etc., etc.
If you can get a better price from the same dealer (which you probably will if you are LOYAL), it's a moot point (isn't moot a great word?
)
