I really don't watch much TV so I'm afraid I will miss the first ads on TV. Does anyone have a clue as to when they will start airing? :dunno:

November?

earlier
|
I work for a TV station. I'll keep a close look out for it to arrive.
|
I now realize just how stupid this question really was. Kinda like asking about prices or release dates, right? Only Ford marketing types would know the answer...and they're not talking.
|
My guess is the end of august.

during NFL games? Sunday & Monday Night Football perhaps? Not a bad target audience, they showed the FORD GT during the Super Bowl.
|
I dont recall ever seeing a commercial for a mustang specifically (by itself) before.. But I think I have seen ads that have a mustang in it along with other ford cars... Anyone else remember?
|
would anybody mind recording the ads and uploading them somewhere on the net? would really appreciate that as we europeans don't have access to your cable network :nice:

I was wondering the same thing. I can't recall seeing an ad for a Mustang in a very long time. Maybe in the background for a dealer, but not specifically for a Mustang. They are usually dealer ads, not Ford ads, anyway.

I am in advertising and I spoke with one of Fords westcoast P.R. people a couple of weeks ago, She told me that the ads would not run until sometime after job 1 and that the magazines would not be able to print any reviews until Sept. However all of the magazines and other media outlets who are going to review the cars have had the cars availible to them for several months.

Originally posted by Dan@July 26, 2004, 11:08 AM I can confirm this after interviewing Hau Thai-Tang. He said the same thing. Just cause you got to talk to him doesn't make you better than me!! Actually, it might, but that's the jealousy talking. :jester: |
Sometime during the first two weeks in August, I'll be back in the states during that time. We don't have commericals on the TV here in Iceland so it "must" happen while I'm home. :-D

There is no way the ads will run before September. Everything I have heard was more like November. I'm guessing Ford wants to hold out until November... maybe let a fe Mustangs drive around and have people looking and wondering what that is? Saying, I have to have one. But, like mentioned earlier, nobody knows, but Ford. And they ain't tellin'.

what is "tv?"
|
I remember that ad well. The first time I ever got choked up watching a commercial. BTW- I remember two commercials 1) 1987 The black GT racing down an old road past an old man sitting on the porch, anyone else remember? 2) The "Ohh Rusty" DMV commercial. |
I have an appointment latter this week with the agency who handles most of Fords (tier 2) advertising to discuss possibilities for Q4. If I hear anything about the 05 Mustang campaign I will let you know.
But from what I had heard earlier from one of Fords P.R. people, the flood doors would open as soon as the cars hit the lots! |
Haven't there been ads for cars/trucks prior to their release dates? I could swear I have seen "and coming soon to the lineup" ads.
|
The first commercials will air in November. That is when the cars will be on all dealer lots, and they don't want to air a commercial in a region where the cars aren't available.

They don't need commercials to sell that car; they need that car to sell the brand. |
OMG - I just was watching the olympics, and saw this ad that featured a 65/66 Mustang Vert. The car was beautiful, and the women in the ad were a bit older, but attractive. It certainly captured my interest, thinking that the 2005 might make a cameo appearance. Then ... the whole thing went south, literally ! It was a commercial for Depends !!! Anyone else see it ?
|
That's why Mustangs are such a great deal -- no PR money spent (almost like BMW), so you get way more than big advertisers like Lexus spend (well yeah, they give luxury too, but you PAY for it unlike the new Mustang :) )
