Any ideas on repair cost?

My friend backed into my car pretty badly yesterday, but he doesn't want to go through insurance. Anybody have any estimates of how much this will cost to fix? If you have any questions feel free to ask.

That looks serious to me since the door doesn't line up with the quarter panel at the door glass line.

Myself, I'd take it to a Ford body shop and have them estimate the repair. Their prices may be the highest as they may be using proper Ford parts and paint. You'll know the real price over a 3rd rate body shop looking for business. Your buddy may also want to use an insurance company if the price is too high.

I'm going to guess $6500.

8000. I had a friend ordeal not to long ago and he didn't want to use insurance either but in the end it was best that we did. He called me the day after and said hey man I know you love that car, take it wherever you want to be sure it's fixed right for hidden damages and all and we will just use the insurance

If this is truly a friend, they will understand they need to use their insurance to protect you. By skipping the insurance company they are only protecting and helping themselves, not you. This is not the mark of a friend. A friend will put the needs of their friend first, not last.

If issues pop up during repair or post-repair, you will find yourself in a negotiation with your friend. This isn't a great direction to take a friendship.

I am not saying your friend is deliberately trying to harm you. I am suggesting this hasn't really been thought through all the way.

5-7k for that repair. Who did he hit? Do you have insurance?

I got tboned at the other end of the door. New fender, new door skin, and paint. Luckily no frame damage. I think it was around 6K. I can check the insurance receipt later, but I think that's a pretty close number

They will probably have to do similar repairs with that

You have insurance for a reason. Use it! Your friend might be pissed but there also is a good chance he won't be able to pay you this kind of $$. There is a time for friendship but this isn't it. Money can make friends into enemies real quick and then you'll have zip.
