Sorry, since the reverse thread was getting so much attention, I just had to start this one...

If anyone is willing to admit they wish they had gotten a manual (EleanorsMine, you are first in line), then don't worry, I won't chide you for getting the automatic, I will welcome your admission.

I'm sure that some auto owners will take offense to my words, and so be it. I personally think that autos do not belong in muscle or sports cars. Automatic manuals for sure, but that is an entirely different topic.

Also, excuse my bad grammar in the title of this post, I was posting a satire of the opposing thread, so I had to follow the wording.

Not here!
I've had over 2yrs. of waiting for this car. From the start it was an auto for me, even if I had to pay. The thing is I have to drive it. Yes a manual is fun, but to a point. I've had fast manuals and autos. It's all a personal choice as what you are looking for.
Yes I was once a die hard manual, but that was a long time in a distant past. I've had a manual for the last 5yrs. and new it would be my last.
The thing is I drive 12 hours a day 5 days a week for the last 30yrs.
It's time for me relax and enjoy the view. I got my lic. in 1966 with a 66 Mustang auto and ending with a 05 Mustang GT prem. auto. That is my dream that has come to a reality!
Happy Trails!!

Wife said no Mustang unless it was auto. that being said, I still love my car and don't regret getting it, especially in traffic. However, if this was a third vehicle that was purely mine, I would have bought the stick as I'm more comfortable with sticks than autos.

I have driven both and No I have no regrets, this new auto is fantastic. I too thought that it was a manual or nothing until I saw and drove the automatic. I was hooked after a 10 minute drive and it just keeps getting better the more I get to know the trans. Maybe in previous mustangs with 3 or 4 speed auto's it would have been an issue, but this auto is matched perfectly to the 300 horse motor. And I believe you will see more and more auto's with more options in the future. But like I said in the previous thread, Row Your Own-Or Stomp And Go they both are great. So pick your flavor and have fun............... B)

No regrets at all for having an Automatic. This car and transmission is great together. Ford did a great job with it. I drive it too much in traffic to have a stick.

Actually...NO.

I do miss having manual and had you asked me the few days right after I bought it I would have said yes. However this auto is really sweet, maybe it only seems so good because the only auto I drove on a daily basis was a 89 Ranger pick up.

I admit I'm a little embarassed to admit to my friends I bought an auto but not enough to make me regret having it. I never realized how relaxing driving could be. In traffic I never had any problems with the stick but I can't get over this being able to sip my coffee and take off from a start without swapping hands to shift into second. I still reach for the clutch and shift **** when going around corners for some reason and look for the clutch when starting the car.

I had a motorcycle accident about 15 years ago where I broke my left knee cap and occaisionally it would start hurting. I thought it was arthritis or something, but it hasn't acted up since I bought my Mustang. So maybe the stepping on the clutch all the time was causing it.

I drove the stick and it was nice enough but the car was silver, no IUP and they had 20 inch chrome rims on it Not my style, didn't care much for the color and definately wanted the IUP.

I'm actually kinda happy I didn't order, I would probably still be waiting and I would have missed out on the auto transmission.

But I have to admit, I was/am one of those guys who would have razzed the heck outta anyone who bought this car with an auto :P

Are you a truck driver or is there some other reason that you drove that much?

I don't understand the deal with spouses deciding cars for people, maybe I am just in a good situation. My wife lets me get anything I want as long as it is financially reasonable and vice versa. I could understand if you only had one vehicle, but with two it doesn't make sense.

Yeah, I don't really understand that much either. Of course, I'm planning for the worst, and gathering all of my toys before I tie the knot.

So far I have a street bike (cruiser/standard), dirt bike, and a truck. In a few months (God willing if this IUP issue goes away) I'll have my 05 GT, and then I want to pick up a crotch rocket (prolly a GSXR) and then I'll be all set.

BTW, congrats on the Sonic Blue, I was originally planning on getting that same car, but in the end I decided to go with black instead. Do you have pics of the 20% tint? I think that is about what I want on mine.

Well, it's getting tinted this Friday, so my signature is too updated I guess. I will post some once I get them.

Edit: Updated my signature. Also put my cardomain web page on there.

Honestly?
I would have loved to have the manual-
BUT
My timeline got forced up due to the crash and I got auto, I am actually quite pleased with it though. No regrets. Eleanor has everything I was going to order except the manual.

I'm a city bus driver in Hawaii. So you see I have alot of miles on me.
I can see your point, but it's all in what's the reason of buying this great car. For me it's something from my past and will take me into my future. Have fun all of you with your 05s autos or manuals! Happy Trails

Thats why I love my husband- I was going to sacrifice Eleanor because it was his car that got crashed- but he told me the mustang was fine as long as I could afford it, he took my olds and is going to get his car when the olds is paid off. Another mustang happily. That one will be manual.

I don't understand those dynamics at all..My way or the highway- what about compromise? If he bullied me or I bullied him into this or nothing I don't think we would last as long as we have.

With that said- I am married to the best man ever! Hes a little too good to me sometimes.

PS- My auto kicks butt and I LOVVVVVE IT! I haven't gotten any flack from anyone but my jealous aunt in her 2000.

Maybe about 7 days out of a calendar year... I Love My Automatic.... It would have been nice if they had a shorter throw shifter in the manual, however.

I got an Auto because I drive a lot in the city while I talk on my phone...drink...play with the radio...read...and I just didn't feel like having to shift all the time. If the Auto was a 4speed or the Manual a 6speed then I would of gotten a manual, but both being 5speed I went for convenience. Now If i'm lucky enough to get a cobra at d-plan pricing then of course it will be a stick.
