B-4 you burn me hear me out.

I hate people playing around with stuff in or on my car and having fun with it on a test drive to see how fast it goes.

I wanna get the version B of the Shaker 1000 put in my car cause mine shakes.

Will the dealer let me put it in myself if I give them the old one first?????
I mean technically I am saving them time and money because it is warrenty work.

Just the thought of someone I don't know driving my car just scares me.

If you install, I believe the warranty will not cover the new stereo. To install a stereo, they should not put more than .1 - .2 miles on your car. Write down the mileage, let them know you wrote it down, and stress it better not be driven. Normally, they will give you the professional (?) courtesy and not drive it.

Why would they drive it. I have never seen Circuit city or any other such business drive a car after they put in a stereo in. If your worried about them driving it just for fun I would tell the service mgr that want to be their when they instal it.

I understand and dont blame you. I am sure much goes on with us not being their during any kind of repair. Good luck with it.

When you take it, tell the service mgr. what your miles are and that you expect them to be the same when you pick it up. Just be nice about otherwise they may try to give you a hard time and keep your car for 2-3 days rather than 2-3 hrs.

Replacing your Ford radio under warranty requires them to download the firmware in the old radio while it is still in your car; then upload that firmware to the new radio.

That said, I don't think you can do the swap out in your back yard...

Yeah when doing something to the stereo there should be no mileage put onto your car. All they have to do is drive from the parking spot into the bay and back to the parking spot.

I took my car in the morning...Car guys met me there, I watched them install it. Zero miles on it. Took 2 hours. I love my (working) shaker.

However, last week when I went in for the TSB the little worm service guy took her on a ride and blasted my Metallica CD while he was out joyriding.

How do I know? Cause i Was listening to american Idiot(slot 1) when I dropped her off... And when I picked her up and put the CD back on it was in the middle of a metallica CD- in slot 5. So not only did he have to look for it.........

I haven't decided if I wanna tattle yet. I think scaring the crap out of him when I took El. out with him was punishment enough. I drove like a bat out of hades.

April!!! and why the heck are radios so darn complicated anymore coming from the factory? I mean in my other car, the Grand Am, I couldn't put in an aftermarket radio without having to have this special chip because all of my airbags and other sensors went through the radio and if I took the radio out the airbags wouldn't deploy properly or at all along with other pieces of the car. April this might apply to you too with the Alero since the Grand Am and Alero are THE SAME.

The Bore- lero is stock.
with Xm.

It enjoys-running hot, puking death cool and slinging belts.

I have been out in it all day.
I dislike the lack of attention I receive in it.
Where oh where could Ellie be?
I been stalking out the dealership watching for joyrides- easy to be stealth in a white alero..

And HORRORS! I couldn't see here on the 4 occasions I passed by there.
