05-GT-DJ's thread brought another question to mind. To avoid hijacking his thread I'll ask it here. Will the seatbelt warning go off if the driver is buckled but the passenger is not? My wife is out of town in the car for a few days so I don't have access to it to check for myself. It's really a non-issue because nobody gets in any of my vehicles without buckling up. I've had a couple of friends either killed or nearly killed in accidents. That really opens your eyes.

I'm editing this to clarify. Of course it does'nt go off when your driving alone. Does the sensor in the passenger seat cause it to go off if there is someone in the seat.

YES. It will go off if there is someone in the seat.

You can disable it, its in the manual. You have to latch and unlatch the seat belt like 11 times or something I think.

Oh yeah, it goes off. I took my Grandpa for a ride and he is very tall and kind of a big man. Well, he didn't put it on cause we were just riding around town. That thing would not SHUT UP! I told him he might as well put it on, the car was just thinking of his safety! With a little bit of manuevering, he managed to get it put on. Problem solved.

Not that I recommend it, but if you buckle it and unbuckle it, it will disable the reminder for that trip only. You have to do the 11 repetitions to permenantly disable it.

Can you disable the driver side as well?

Yeah, either belt can be disabled, either for that trip or for good. It is in the manual, and if you try a search, you might find the exact page(s) in the other thread. But I think the above poster is correct, its like 11 times buckling/unbuckling for permenant disable or just one buckle/unbuckle for that trip only.

And...I think only one can be temporarily disabled at a time....not both.

I have tried to disable the one for the drivers side, because I always start the car and then put my seatbelt on. I have never forgotten to put my seatbelt on and I don't need the car to remind me. I have tried to disable it multiple times. Each time the airbag light blinks as it should for a disable, but the thing still beeps at me when I start the car.

I have not tried leaving my seatbelt off to see if it does anything later on.

Anybody successfully disable the reminder?
