It is finally here. I ordered back in November. Had to suffer the torture of it arriving in the docks in Liverpool at the beginning of January. It had to clear customs and get fitted up to pass the Uk road tests, and I picked it up two days ago. This car is amazing. I had never heard one running before I switched mine on at the dealer to take it home. Absolutely awesome. I couldn't understand why people were saying they would turn the sound down on the stereo to hear the engine, but it all makes sense. Now my neighbours get to wake up to a V8 engine at 7 am when I leave for work.Shaker 1000 is like having your own nightclub with you whereever you go.
I used to drive a Jaguar XJR, with a supercharged 4 litre engine. This is much more fun. I am enjoying spanking bmw's and porsche boxsters at the lights. Or as you would say "Recording kills". The Brits love this car. There have been lots of articles about it in the motoring press and lots of people follow me to take pics on their camera phone. It stops traffic!
Lots of thanks to everyone in the forum and Brad for a great site, which helped me change my order from Auto to manual and to delete the spoiler.
Check out the plates. Can I finally get some bananas people?
Ps sorry to take one of the ponies away from the rest of the herd in North America, but I'll make sure she's happy here.

Looks great...

Question though, do you know what they have to do to the car to make it road ready in the UK, or did they just have to test it?

Haaa there's hope for the Brits after all!!! I think we can live with one extra nice GT going to 'represent' us in England. Consider it payment in full for the tea we dumped here in Boston Harbor a ways back!

Being myself from Switzerland, I can tell you that US cars in Europe have to be modified a bit to fit the parameters imposed by the law over there and of course it depends on which country you are.
In Switzerland you don't have to modify an outrageous amount of stuff, but for example in Italy it's much much tougher...
I don't know about the UK, but I guess it's not that different...

But one think you guys don't probably know, it's the price you gotta pay for a car over there...
I would say that cars in the USA (when I say this, I mean ALL brands, not only Ford's...) are probably about 35-50 % cheaper than in Europe, on average.
As far as the Mustang goes, I know that in Switzerland you can get one thru a so-called "parallel importer" (meaning not Ford in this case, but some car shop that buys a 'Stang in the USA and then ships it and modifies it to fulfill law's requirements. Ford to my knowledge is not selling the Mustang in Europe...) will cost you about 44 to 48k dollars, in Italy 52 to 57k dollars (I am talking GT, the V6 will cost of course less...).
You may imagine what kind of (HUGE) interest there is among potential european buyers, seen the price difference...
I personally had at least 30 inquiries from people of the forum of the most known italian car magazine (name's Quattroruote) I am registered at...
If US dealerships would one day decide to sell + ship to european customers (and I personally know of one that does, here in MA. They already had shipped two Stangs to Iceland and one to Switzerland when I walked in there in mid January...), Ford would double, if not triple, the number of Stangs sold...believe me...

Getting a Mustang serviced in the UK could be difficult.

Like getting parts?

What about having the steering wheel on the wrong side (or the right side - or is it the left side )
