Was driving home from work, 93 Probe GT with recent stalling issues, and sure enough it hit again and forced me to get a tow truck home. Probably a fuel pump and/or distributor but decided this was it, time to put the old girl down. I am the original owner so 165k miles of use is pretty good.

Started to move into serious mode car shopping, luckily had a friends old explorer i was able to borrow. Looked at everythinig from the new Passat, Charger, Mustang, Focus (budget option), SUV, etc. It was wide open. I have two smaller girls, 5 and 3, so I was really thinking I had to go with 4 doors.

Finally after a long day shopping with Dad and lots of talk on getting the car that is best for me, I decided it was the mustang!! I had been drooling over the new ones since they arrived last year but never really thought I could get there with the family situation. Wife was fantastic and supportive throughout the whole thing. So here is what I pulled into my garage yesterday.

2006 Mustang GT Premium
Vista Blue
IUP
18" polished bullets
Side air bags
Automatic

I still can't believe it's in my garage. 25 miles on the odo. My only change was I dropped the notion of the manual to make the car a bit more friendly for road trips with the wife and actually the automatic wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. City driving works really well just leaving it in 3.

Just want to say thanks to everyone on this forum. I have been lurking for a VERY long time and the information sharing here is fantastic. Looking forward to many years of story swapping.

Have a safe holiday and new years everyone!!

I need to get back to cooking.

p.s. I know I don't have pics on this thread. I still dont have any, haven't had time with all the running around the last few days.

Hey Mike, that's really cool. Glad you got a Mustang, despite your concerns. Now you can join the club.

I'm assuming you're living in Southern California and that your name is Fitzgerald or Fitzpatrick or something to that effect...

Regardless, give us a looksee!

Merry Christmas!

I dunno about yours, but my kids think theyre really something riding in the mustang- I dropped my oldest son off at school the other morning and his mom (ex wife) said all he talked about was how all the kids were asking him about the car and how neat it was...
My 2 younger sons wont let me move it in the driveway without insisting on getting in...

short story- one very brief, yet proud moment of my life- around 1982 I was picking up girlfriend from work, when this little kid maybe 6 years old pulls away from her mom, sticks her head in the car and says 'gee mister, neat car'...I was like 17-18, driving the 69, and it just blew my mind that even such a little kid would like that car as much as I did...'chevy guys' at work were same way. Certain cars no matter what the make are simply attractive- I think Ford did a styling job on the new ones that will call out to young and old as much as the old classics...I truly feel the 05/06 is going to be the next 'classic'...I think to me 67-69 and 05-06 will always be my favorite mustangs... the fastback is just such a pretty car...I'm getting worried though- what if the 07 looks even better??? OH no... not another car payment!
