Alt wire upgrade 2008 V6

Hi
I would like to upgrade my alternator wire with a beefier gauge if they make something for a V6 (also any other wire upgrade suggested). Its a convertible with power everything and I can defiantly feel the drain whenever I open a window or blast some songs while driving. I did a complete wire upgrade on my 1989 F150 and had great results, Im just having a hard time finding something for my mustang since its NOT a GT. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Randy

Welcome to the forums!

You should be able to make your own wire. Just get the appropriately sized cable in Red, stick a ring connector on one end for the alternator side, and then get the wire in/on the positive terminal on the battery. Proabaly a good sized ring and mount it on the stud of the terminal that's already there (as I believe that's how it's done on the '08, right? Studded terminal that all the cables bolt onto on the 'ear'?) And there ya go, Bob's your father's nephew's brother's mom's father's brother, upgraded alternator wire!

No need to buy a ready made one. Just need the parts and get 'er dun. Buy good parts too, good wire, good crimp on ring terminals, good crimper and good shrink wrap on those terminals wouldn't be a bad idea either. Be sure to transfer your lil' terminal hood on the alternator end. No need to solder if done right, just like factory and all that.

For what my lil' diatribe is worth on the subject. Hope it helps, good luck!

I will take a look at the wire tomorrow and see what I can come up with. I upgraded the alt and grounds on my f150 and it worked great. All I have left is 1 gauge but it should be something I can do on tbhe bench once I get it measured. Thanks Sir.

Um... I dare say that running 1 gauge from the alternator to the battery oughtta get that done and right nice too. Seein' how the original's 2 or 4...

Oh, and hey, dunno if this helps, but I found this:
https://www.harborfreight.com/6-ft-i...set-63747.html

Already ready to swap out! Rings and all. Just peel off the black one... unless you want black, then the red one you'd peel off... and swap it right on out. Or heck... put 'em both on, have two cables goin' to that battery. That oughtta solve the power problems pronto, I'd bet. I mean, sure, it's Hairy Fraught, but it'd do, I'd recon. Maybe put friction tape 'round it, or loom...

Just throwin' stuff at the wall. I'm sure you'll get 'er dun!
