aftermarket wheels and TPS

I'm thinking of getting aftermarket wheels and tires from a company on ebay.the tires and wheels will be mounted and balanced before shipping...the car is an '07 with TPS ..will the low pressure senser lite be on when i do this or do i need to remove the TPS from the the factory rims and have them placed on the new wheels .. is there an override that can be done to the car ?? thanks Robert

The shop I went to moved the TPMS sensors from the original wheels to the aftermarket ones. I didn't have to pay any extra to get this done. There hasn't been any override concerning the TPMS that I've been able to find on any site....

If the wheels are mounted/balanced before hande, you'll need to have the TPMS re-mounted to the new wheels when yours are removed.

Pretty sure you are right that we have the same wheels. I don't know how they did it, but I don't have a problem with the TPMS light coming on. The sensors are on the wheel because after the install the light came on and I had to add air to one of the tires... light went off. So it's completely functional.

I went to a local *bling* wheel place here in So Cal and they acted/performed like it was no big deal.

Most shops will charge you to switch the sensors out. You're better off getting the tires mounted and balanced locally, as you'll probably be charged extra for them to break down the new tires and wheels. They'll have to rebalance them anyway. You'll also want to pick up some TPMS mounting band kits from Americanmuscle.com

I went to Discount Tire and they took the sesors from my old wheels and put them into the new wheels with new steel bands. That's all there is to it!

i talked to a local discount tire today and they told me that they'd need to send the rims to a local ford dealer 'cause they didn't have any luck re-mounting tpms..so thanks for all the answers ..i still like those wheels on ebay tho..we'll see ,as i'll check with a local rim show tomorrow..Robert
