I had a strong feeling when I originally saw the drawings of what the '05 would be that the aftermarket guys (Saleen etc) would have a tough time improving on the latest version of the Mustang. Ford has completely outdone themselves and hit such a home run with this car, that it seems like the tweaks etc that these folks normally do just really detract from the car. It's such pure poetry in it's raw stock form, Steeda to me so far is the only company that's managed to improve upon the original formula.

I agree, I don't like any of the tuner '05 Mustangs. They all ruin the great lines of the '05 Stang and look almost like rice. Although I do like the rear end of the Saleen, with the wing removed
But someone will be able to improve it, just like Shelby did with the original 1965 GT-350.

I think SEMA and the show cars are about overdoing things and taking them to some interpretation (extreme) to get attention and differentiate from the crowd. I'm not sure if it will tone down in a year or two, but I'm sure there are going to be some that are more subtle and differentiated. The Roche ducktail was pretty nice, and Saleen splitter and side rails. If someone does the concept hood, and put on CDC's glass back, and I suspect the Interceptors Black Chrome wheels.... ;-)

I agree, the Mustang is just that good, adding chin spoilers/splitters and scoops and such are not going to help, if not hurt outright. Roush's front end? ![Puke](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/puke.gif)
However, a nice CobraJet hood, relocated fog lamp in the lower facia, fog lamp deleted grill, SOME type of finishing touch to the quarter window, and a honeycomb or other dark insert in between the taillamps wouldn't be a terrible idea, IMO.
Goin' rice on would be a big mistake. YMMV.

Do you think Ford told them the ducktail was off limits? It seems like many people on here like it yet none of the tuners have it. I got the spoiler delete, but if a ducktail was available I probably would have got it.

Personally, I think MRT did the best overall job.
Click on MRT Interceptor Headed for Las Vegas
Definately has the best duck tial spoiler and the theme goes along with the retro styling better than all the rice versions we've seen.
It's not perfect, but I will be borrowing a lot of their ideas for my next Stang.

Finished, I think the Interceptor is MUCH nicer than I thought. Nicer than the Saleen (to me) by far. I personally don't like the louvers in real life (they looked better in the sketches) -- but some will. For me, drop them off, and that graphic on the back, and the subwoof and amps filling my trunk, and the upper-front-grill-thing, and the scoop (I want the concepts double one) -- but everything else I liked. (Which is the majority -- the interior, wheels, ducktail, roof, etc.) I do agree drop the back. But it is the most "pure" rendition that stuck with the cars theme.

Based on some of the great photoshops we've seen on these forums, I'd say it's very possible to put out a great aftermarket Stang (i.e., one that didn't ruin the lines, etc). See the Saleen, Mach I and Boss chops especially. So far it just hasn't happened.
