It was simple to replace the mufflers in the past. Do we have to now buy mufflers with exhaust tips?? how does that work?? Flowmaster make such mufflers??

 

I e-mailed Borla asking about their plans for the 05. I'll keep you posted.

The 05 may just require a muffler swap since the exhaust is already 2.5" mandrel bent. The exhaust will have polished tips.

We'll have to see. A muffler swap would probably take you 10 minutes, 5min of which you'll be searching for tools.

The exhaust shop will simply cut the factory muffler off, then use the saw to cut the exhaust tip off the factory muffler, then weld all the stuff with new muffler back in place.

well if welding is involved that's what we have to do. Did anyone think of this?? I sure did'nt until I was staring at a pic today.Flowmaster doesn't ahve exhaust with tips and it would look stupid clamping a bracket since the muffler is exposed. WELDING A MUST it looks like!!! There are 2 new products by flowmaster . check them out on flowmasteres web sit . They are the super 40 muffler and the hushpower muffler. They both have sound bite you can listen to the exhaust. sound #4 on the super 40 is a 1999 cobra Sounds mean. Question for the hushpower mufflers??????? Will they fit??? If they do you won't have that muffler look in the back??? check it out ????

i am pretty sure that the mufflers will have to be made to size.. i.e. made to fit that specific application. They will more than likely have tips pre-fabbed onto them. I expect companies like Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Borla, and Bassani to have products out fairly quick and be nice quality. It will be a bolt on if it has to be a full cat-back or not. I'm sure they will sell a product that doesnt require welding.

 

All I can say is if the Mazda 6 (which doesn't have the rabid performance following like the Mustang) has several aftermarket options for mufflers with intergrate tips, I have no doubt the Mustang will as well.

 

I believe the 05 mufflers are attached with clamps so removal and installation will be easy.

However, I'm not sure a cat-back is required. Wonder what these companies will do?

Im sure they come with tips. Bassani should make a very nice high-pollished set of mufflers and pipes. :worship:

Flowmaster has no e-mail adress ,so I will call them tomorrow and see whats going on.I will ask if they plan on makin a muff w/ tips. The hushpower muffs might be the answer for those who want to hide the muffs a little more. I hope they are not too long.The super 40 muffs are louder and might breath more than the hushpower. The hush powers sound awsome but I wonder If the hush in hushpower means they are not as loud as the other flowmasters. I got my eye on both!!! For those who want to hear both muffs ,go to the flowmaster site and give your opinion!!

I looked through some old pics and Dan is right. The mufflers are clamped so that you can replace them easily. This has to be a nod to the aftermarket, which is good for us

 

By the looks of it, none of the flowmasters will fit. It looks like we have to wait until these companies make a specific muff for the muzzy. the muff holes are totaly offset from one another and the offset has to be the exact measurment to stick out the back of the car.
