This blog post leads me to believe that yes, this is a fully functional factory installed alarm system.

I think it is, but since it is "optional equipment" hopefully it will be good.

I ordered it b/c I think it's got an interior motion detector and I truly need more useless gadgets that don't do much.

Think how funny this is -- a thief ALREADY breaks the window to get inside the car, but then wow! -- I've got an interior motion detector that senses him too, LOL

It makes sense. For example, if you leave your car for a short time, like getting some coffee from a Starbucks across the road, and you leave the windows open... as soon as a thief reaches into the car with his hand, the alarm goes off.

I had an alpine alarm system that had this same type of sensor. Only downfall was I lived next door to a building that had a wireless intercom system. Everytime they used their system my alarm went off.

On the pro side, if you reach your hand in to grab something the alarm goes off and the window roll up. It is a nice feature.

The incline sensor, which I also had with the alpine, may not be as effective. Usually these are set that the alarm will not go off if it is being towed. The alarm on my 97 GT went off only after they pulled my car over a curb (ya I was pissed at them for that one).

A guy that lives across the street from me owns a red riced out 95 v6 mustang.
The alarm goes off all the time in the middle of the night. Very annoying! I set the thing off every time I drive by it from the rumble of my car!!!! Thats real fun for me.
Ordered the alrarm coming from ford. i also had problems with aftermarket alarms. :geek: :drive:
