hey, alright how is the gas pedal on the 05?, i have drove my aunts 99 mustang and the gas pedal is stiff and you have to actually push it a little{its not broke} which feels good alot better then the ones that you barley push and it goes how is the 05? thanks

Not quite sure what to make of that one, but...

When I push the gas pedal in, the car goes faster, without hesitation.

I think what he means is.
Is there resistance when the pedal is pushed? Is it stiff?

ahhhh, I see.

I didn't have a previous model, so can't really compare... but the pedal seems just right to me. There is a bit of resistance, of course, but definitely not stiff in any way. Perfect

It's pretty subjective, but hope this helps a little.

Can't really tell you the difference on pressure but be ready for a slight hesitation because of the "throttle by wire" design. I don't like it and it can be eliminated with a custom tune. I can tell the difference.

There is no throttle cable. You press the gas the computer reads it then sends the info to the accelerator. I don't particularly like it. :notnice:

It is fine. Nothing to worry about. With the manual, throttle response is instantaneous IMO. Pedal is not heavy at all.

I know what you're talking about, stang101. My g/f's Ford Focus's pedal is light as AIR. I really hate it. I drove all the way down to VA with it and it was a pain in the butt. I had to hold my foot up the whole way. If I relaxed my ankle muslces one bit it would nudge the accelerator down enough that the car would eventually creep up to 90. I was used to the stiffness of my '91 Saturn and my Shelby GT 500, so I'm sure that contributed.

My '05 Mustang GT seems to be right in the middle -perfect in my opinion. Lighter than my Shelby, but DEFINITELY not feather-light like my g/f's Ford Focus.

yeah, my wife's Focus has a light as heck gas pedal.... the brakes are super light too... I'm used to driving my Expedition where you have to put a lot of weight into the brakes (which doesn't seem right anyways) but then when I get into my wife's car, it looks like it's my first time out with my new license. it's pretty funny.

I do not own one yet, but I will agree with Pony on this one ...I have heard "drive by wire" stinks...Good to know it can be eliminated, and replaced with a good 'ole throttle linkage system...

No stiffness at all, and I have an auto. You barely press down and it wants to go. The accelerator is much more computer assisted now than it was in '99.

I really don't like the throttle feel in the '05. I'm hoping a tune will eventually resolve it.

He said eliminated by a "custom tune." Meaning, a reprograming of the computer, not replacing it with a cable. There is no, and probably never will be an after market replacement cable. Everything is now computer controled, as well as the cruise, so putting a cable on will really mess stuff up.
