If you didn't catch it, they showed the production line of the Mustang on Extreme Makeover Home Edition a few minutes ago.

I saw it!!! Wow and the hottie carpenter got to cruise out the door in a Red Vert past a lot full of Ponys waiting to ship it looked like.

Did you catch the Cornfield commercial earlier?? Nice to see it again.

Wonder if they're going to give away another Stang on the show?

Ford is doing a fantastic advertising job by placing their products on a heartwarming show like this.

I just posted this on another Mustang Forum. Unreal, they took a LL GT rear deck and used it as a desk in the kids' room.

ya, they used all kinds of parts (badges, exhaust pipes, deck lid). they've pretty much given away at least one car each show...one show they gave every kid that was 16+ a focus...i think it was a total of 6!

so far i think they've given away three mustangs. and then there's me, being bumped to 06 (teehee, no i don't begrudge these people their free cars!)

Tomorrow night is Extreme Make Over How'd they do that.
It is a show about how they got the material's etc to build the house.

I will just about bet they will show the Ford plant again.

So watch tomorrow night at 8 to see if they show more.

I know I will be.

I really loved the Pony on the wall.
I seriously need to find out how to get one of those or fund someone that could make me one.

Gotcha.

I was thinking, if it was around here, it would've been all over the news. The house they did do in Michigan, forgot what city, but it's west of Detroit, the local news programs were all over it. The house turned out pretty cool. It was for the family that were deaf, except for one of their sons.

Yes, heartwarming show....but a double-edged sword.

They did a home nearby where I live. A real pile of junk to begin with, now it's a dream property. Well, the problem is that in this area, the MEDIAN home price is $600,000 so guess what this "dream property" was re-assessed at for purposes of property taxes....yea, way over a million.

The owners can't afford the property taxes now. They could almost buy a GT a year for what they owe in taxes.

Yeah what the show doesn't tell you is that these families get screwed over in taxes. The IRS collects all improvements to the house as prize money, meaning they have to pay 50% of it in taxes. I remember specifically reading 1 family getting slammed with a $600,000 IRS tax bill. Thanks Extreme Home Makeover. I don't watch this show anymore, it's a crock.

Actually down here, you only have to have your house/property reassessed if you are selling. It's a good thing since most of the house values have doubled in the past three years or so. People are still paying taxes on what their house originally appraised for.

That doesn't sound right. Depending on their tax bracket they wouldn't have to pay 50%. More like 25%. But that's true of any game show, contests, ect... I would still take it. You are still getting free stuff.

Nothing is free when it comes ot the IRS. Their income may be low but the "free makeover" is considered a gift and any gift over $10,000 is taxable. So even if they make $25,000 a year they have to add in the gift which would then bump them in the high bracket.
I love the show but was wondering if they were going overboard. They have done alot of fantastic things for people and made their lives better but wondered what these people were going to do to pay the taxes and then the upkeep on their houses. How to pay for fixing all the high tech things when they go bad. We all know how ong some of this stuff lasts these days...not long. Regardless their heart is in the right place. I know at one time you could use a "one time exemption" for tax. Lets say you sold your house and made a fortune on it cause you had it for years and years. You could use this exemption once in your life and not pay. But I am thinking that exemption may be gone now. They changed the capitol gains tax on houses a few years ago and it may have been part of it.
