AAARRGGHH!!! Caught in a downpour !
So, let me preface this by telling you my car has NEVER been driven in the rain, nor has it been rained on. Now, as I am cruizin down the interstate at 70 mph, the sky starts to look a bit dark. Was I worried? Heck no. We have not had any rain in ages, and the forecast was for showers late tonight. Anyway, out of the blue, or should I say black, it starts to rain. Not gentle rain mind you, but the big, knock your eye sockets out, give you a concussion type rain! I immediately pull over to the shoulder and stop as quickly as I can. When I go to put the top up... NOTHING! The stupid thing would not start to go up! All the while I am getting more and more soaked, not to mention my freshly detailed interior! Finally the darn top decides to cooperate and starts to close. As I head back down the interstate, with water running down my face from my soaked head, the rain suddenly stops as quickly as it started. Not a single drop more fell on my baby the rest of the trip home. Go figure! I think somebody has it out for me. Thanks for letting me vent.

Steve, I am really sorry to hear that. I have had to stop for a few incidents to raise the top, but nature gave me enough time - so far.
Were you COMPLETELY stopped? The top won't move if you are rolling, even a little bit.

Which is so slow they might as well have made you stop.
But I have found that if you can get it started it will let it keep going up to about 5MPH. But don't go over 5 or you'll have to go under 1.8 again.

Top down, I'm one that feels for you dude! The weather sucks in my area this season, so I have not been out much. So far the O5 has never be rained on either. Any % of rain forecast and it just sits. It's not the gentle rain that would concern me, its all the filth on the ground around here or the possible damaging hail.

Cars and their mechanisms are like dogs, they can smell fear...and decide not to work at the worst possible moment.

In all honesty, please don't be mad at me, I was picturing in my mind the situation you described and I just started giggling (especially during the part "with water running down my face from my soaked head, the rain suddenly stops as quickly as it started", it just sounded pretty funny). I feel for you, man, but at the end of the day, it's only rain: it will dry up, inside and out, and I am sure you are dry as well by now.
It sucks if you had just detailed the interior, but you'll get her to shine again.
So, all in all, no real damage done, right ?
Good luck and let's hope you won't get drenched again, ok ?
PS: take it with a good sense of humor, it won't appear to be THAT bad...

I see another vert commercial here, like the guy frozen at the wheel in winter, another driver can't wait to drive it no matter what the weather. But seriously, hope no damage got done to your interior. I know it had to be frustrating.

That sucks, I've seen a few Texas Gulley-washers, they can be bad.
But I've kinda forgotten what rain is like. Why didn't I order a 'vert this time around? Oh yeah, the 115 degree temps all summer long.

Man can I ever relate. The EXACT same thing happened to me when my vert was about 2 weeks old. I had literally just finished washing it and giving it it's first wax job and interior detailing. I'm cruising in the bright sunshine when out of absolutely nowhere it starts pouring down rain. I mean there weren't even any dark clouds around!! The sun was still out for crying out loud!! I pulled over and quickly hit the top button and... nothing. I'm throwing every foul word I can at it but it won't budge. Finally after hitting the button several times it starts trundling upward, of course it took what seemed like about 30 minutes to raise up. No joke, in the time it took to get the top up the rain was gone and never came back! I pulled off the highway and toweled off the interior, took it home and washed it again

How long did it take before it started raining from the time you got nervous and started wondering if it was going to rain? 1 min? 5 mins? 10 mins?
DUDE, I would have pulled over at the FIRST sign of rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You deserve it!
