6.2 & 5.8-liter engines coming? Hurricane engine program?

[Source: Automotive News]

With competition looming from Dodge and Chevy, the Mustang will keep its current look until the 2010 model year, when we can expect a restyled version. Bigger engines are planned though, with 6.2-liter and 5.8-liter powerplants rumored to be coming out of Ford's "Hurricane" engine program. Automotive News suggests that Ford may revive the legendary Boss badge for the big-engine models. More nebulous are a Mercury version of the Mustang and a Lincoln coupe based on the pony car platform, both just at the design concept stage.

Pics of that Cougar mock up are nice. I think it'd have a decent run if they put it out there.

I wonder how these motors would fit in our stangs. Or if it would be like fitting a 5.0 in a focus.

The 5.4L DOHC is dimensionally a very large engine and it fit in the GT500. I can't imagine these new engines being bigger.

We also though have to take into consideration a larger radiator, bigger exhaust, beefing up the front suspension. Would be cool to do though!

That would be one hot car if it came close to that. As I always say it could be like the G35 is to the 350z.

I can see it now, big cowl hood to fit the engine and twin screw SC under, Tubular front suspension to fit long tube headers and carry the bigger springs and struts. A/C Delete along with moving the battery to the trunk for more room. Big fluidyne radiator with low profile twin fans.

Its not too bad. Needs more of a American look. Makes me think about the original Capri
