I must agree its seems odd, not the color so much I have seen that happen more offten than not. The real odd part is the fact that there are not at least one to two more colors that are delayed that much than just the lime. The thing that suprised me the most out of that brief is the manual transmission that one does suprise me. I can only think that is happening casue it is not a cary over transmisson like the GT models. I'm just gald there are no delays for the automatic like I ordered B)

I will assume the bodyside mouldings are painted at a supplier company.

possibly there are major issues getting the colors to match or something like that. Maybe that particular contractor went under or is having equipment trouble.

That's what my guess would be. A lot of problems are supplier issues.. not really Ford's.

I always thought the entire car was painted at one time.

Edit: I would like to see how these cars are painted on the line.

Just checked the Dealer News Bulletin and both delays are posted there. It's amazing how quickly info is available in today's digital age. I had not read this bulletin yet and first heard of this info here. Thanks for the help, folks.
I think I better pay more attention if I want to contribute.

in a lot of cases, for example, the front and rear fascias are painted at the same company the injection molds them, then they are shipped to the OEM. Also, in a lot of cases factory ground effects and wings are painted by tier-1 and tier 2's as well.

Wheels and steel bumpers are almost always done outside as well.

I disagree with this logic. If I paid you to do my yardwork, and then did not make sure you followed through to do the yardwork, then it is my fault for choosing you to do my yardwork.

Is it not Ford's problem though? Ford is the company that chose the supplier that possibly is delaying a supply of needed parts, or provided that supplier with a parts and delivery contract. If these suppliers fail to deliver parts because one of their suppliers could not deliver parts needed to produce said parts, then they will blame it on someone else, and so on. This is not acceptable, as it comes back to Ford as a delivery problem.

Who cares who's fault it is? There's nothing that can be done about it now. Everybody has been waiting for their cars for years now. I don't see what another couple of months is. If you don't want it, cancel it - simple as that. Somebody else will buy it.

The 05 V6 manual trans is a T5, right? Those things have been around for a long time and I find it weird that they would have trouble with something that they know so well.

Agree and disagree with what you are saying,... but talk to any Ford employee about it

only if you want the optional side mouldings (ugly IMO)

but you are really in a hole if you ordered a 5spd Legend Lime V6 with the mouldings.

Of ALL the colors available, the color that I choose has to be delayed. UN-FREAKIN-BELIEVABLE :bang:

Wait, if those moldings are an option, I might be safe. I don't even recall that being an option or if I chose it as an option. I need to get ahold of my dealer to see if my build date has been changed!

I thought i read something about the moldings being for just fleet or rental vehicles.

yeah read page 5 of the Order Guide. Fleet only options.
I think they are those heavy bulky moldings that run down the side of the car to prevent door dings??? UGLY
