2011-GT Premium wheels on 05

I got a set of '11 GT Premium wheels for $150 and they need new rubber. Should I do 255/40 all around, or what is advisable?

Original tire sizes are 235/50 R18 on that wheel... assuming the 18x8 ones are what you are saying you have.

A 255/40 would be smaller diameter, lowering the car and the speedo would be a good amount wrong. 60 on it would be 57 in reality. I'd recommend the 255/45, it's closer to the same diameter, and the speedo will only be off by a couple of tenths slow. 60 indicated is 59.5.

I run 18x9.5" wheels with 275/40s on my '06, and I don't have rubbing issues, so it's unlikely the wider tire (.7" overall, .35" each side) will have that issue. But the tire is going to have a 'pooched' look on the sidewalls. Not a fan, but if you like it, hey, go for it.

For what it's worth, I'd not change the size, just get good tires in the proper size. I recommend the Cooper Zeon RS3-A, which make up for their being less wide with really good grip. They were pretty amazing on my old 17x8 wheels in stock form.

Use this to see what all I'm talkin' 'bout: https://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp Plug in yer numbers, and see the differences and gotchas.

Just my thoughts. Hope it helps and good dang luck!

245/45-19s then. Same conversation otherwise, just the tire sizes are different. The 255/40 will be wider, shorter, pooch out and will mess up the speedo pretty good. If you went with 255/45, then the speedo will be closer as the tire is a bit taller, but not much.

I would again stick with the stock size unless it's a look thing you're goin' for and want the pooched tires.

I'll stick with the 245/45 then. I figured I can lower it, and get the tires for the factory '11 19's all for around $800 shipped then I'll be set for most mods this year. Or so I think lol. Still wanna do a headlight retro and tint windows.

It really all depends on if there 19x8, 19x8.5 or 19x9..

If there 19x8's ? I would just stick with the manufactures recommended tire sizes..

On the other hand, if they're 19x9s, you could step up to 265/40/19's or 265/45/19 on all 4 corners.. However I wouldn't recommend going any larger than that when running on 19x9" wheels.. Just my $.02

As for wanting to have your windows tinted.. Let me also provide you with some friendly advice.. Being that your also from PA, make absolutely certain that at least 70% of light can pass through the tinting otherwise you will get nailed for illegal tint just as I did and was given 30 days to have it removed..
