2009 Mustangs to be Among the Rarest
With the 2010 Mustang just around the corner, Ford is scheduling an abbreviated run for the 2009 models. Mustang Marketing Manager Fritz Wilke expects there to be just 45,000 2009 Mustangs, which is appropriate considering the Mustang celebrates its 45th Anniversary next year.

Not unusual at all. tHINK OF IT A ANOTHER WAY FORWARD TO SAVE MONEY. Low production, short build year, no excess inventory, Plant shut down time, (Need to retool). And if they do their homework, make the final runs V-6's. Fleet Sales, and loss leader's to get folks into the showrooms.

Sounds like the '10 will be a mid year intro.

Ive got mixed feelings about the 010...in a way I hope it dont look so good that the 'gotta get one' kicks in, but also hope ford dont screw it up, and they hit another homerun...Ive always loved the 69 as favorite body style, but gotta say I'd pick the 05-09 as a second choice...the only things I disliked about the 05 styling (in order) were:
1) hated the quarter windows- but SHR louvers fixed that
2) kinda wish the quarters stuck out like the 69
3) kinda wish the hood wasnt so flat/plain (got a fang/shaker, but havent put it on yet)
4) kinda wish the hockey stick wasnt there- would allow both '69&'70 boss302 style striping work
better
5) wish the taillamps didnt have backup lenses(thinking about reworking mine and adding 69
backup lamps in the lower bumper)
6) really wish '69 Acapulco blue would be a color option- I like the vista(weve got 2) but like the
lighter/brighter Acapulco shade even more...
sometimes though 'getting the look right' is hard to judge...I just hope Ford has another great looking mustang up their sleeve- I loved the 69, still liked the 70, but the 71 just never clicked with me- not knocking it, everyone has their favorites, but I just hope the changes are not as dramatic as the 69,71,74 changes were...as they apparently are keeping the roofline, hopefully just some hips, quarter louvers, and losing the hockeystick will be about the extent of it, but you never know...I do think #1 the hockeystick NEEDS to go so then they could offer up some boss302 graphics, maybe even 70 mach1 style lower moldings, as parts of a few more models...
I do know one thing- if going for performance models, they better be quick- fuel problems got me worried it could be 1972 again real soon...would not even be suprised to see a 'Pony- MPG' 4 cylinder model on the horizon...if not, sad to say, but maybe there should be(at least a smaller v6 than the 4.0 ) a 35 mpg Mustang shouldnt be out of the question...hopefully whatever they do they can get the production up enough to still offer performance versions at a decent cost.

just stumbled n this thread from like 16 months ago...found it kinda funny reading my old post- worried that the 10 would look so good I'd just have to get one...
ironically it worked out exactly the opposite, yet I still wound up with another car payment - saw the reveal on the speed channel, called the dealer the next morning to get a 09...its still sitting there with 3 miles on it.

I think I saw well over a dozen 2009s at work and around this area. Chances are they were being sold cheap at the dealers to make way for the 2010s, and people started to lease/finance 2009 V6s and GTs.
