2009 GT500 KR on Mecum

Did anyone else see this ?

A 2009 GT500 KR with 24 miles on it sold for 48.5K !

The one I looked at listed for 82k.
I know several sold for over 100k when the first come out.

Talk about depreciation.

I am sure some people who payed big bucks for these would silt their wrist if they see this.

they are nice but you are paying for the name pretty much and that hardly ever keeps value in a item.

I'm with this guy! I honestly could not believe how much people were paying for the KR. Its ridiculous! If I were going to spend 80k on a car, I can assure you it probably wouldn't be a Ford, and that's only because the Ford GT prices remain in the 6 digits to date.

Not enough interested parties to bid it up. I saw it and my jaw dropped, I should have been there!

I just sold our 2009 GT500KR about a month ago. And it was quite a bit under the 82k sticker price!

One thing I can't say bad about the KR is the fantastic sound it makes from the exhaust...

The 2011 GT500 is almost as good. (sound wise, the 2011 destroys the KR in everything else.)

The reason the KR was so much was due to the Shelby upfitting. Doesn't matter who the upfitter is they're going to want their cut of the pie. They are going to do it for free.

Local dealer couldn't move one over here so Owners son who also is Vice President or whatever of the place cruised around in it for 1500 miles pretty much ruined the front splitter dragging curbs and they moved it to used cars and still wanted $75k! On an 08 6 months ago.

Cool car, but so overpriced for what you get beyond the fact that its an actual SAI product.

I question the advantage to selling any FORD product through Mechum ....

they seem to get mega-bucks for any garden variety, POS Chevrolet,

while still leaving beaucoup money on the table with nearly every Mustang sold

I guess its the rubes that they attract to their tent sales.

Honestly.... those cars were grossly overpriced to begin with. I understand that it was "limited production" and "Shelby modified", but it was close to twice the price of a GT500 and about 4 times the price of a base mustang, and it certainly wasn't twice the car in the case of the GT500. This got reflected in the fact that there's still dealers who made the mistake of taking allocation on these things, who have been sitting on the cars for years desparately trying to avoid getting completely screwed on it.

There are plenty of people who will pay $40-50k for a Mustang and $80k for a very fast car. There aren't many who will pay $80k+ for a Mustang. Ford has done really well for themselves in recent years, but the KR was a huge mistake.

No doubt it's a great car... and if it had been properly priced... then it would've had no trouble selling at MSRP and retaining its value.
