2008 Bullitt 3V making a knock when shut off.
2008 Bullitt 3V making a knock when shut off.
I just noticed the other day that sometimes when I turn my car off I hear a knock of sorts in the intake area. Not load.
car has brenspeed Detroit rocker cams, twin 62 mm FMS throttle body, JLT CAI, long tube headers..
Its not load and only knocks/clicks/pops a couple times.
any suggestions what it might be?

Your air/fuel or timing isn't right. Contact your tuning specialist about your knock issues and suspect it's related to either air/fuel or timing needing adjusted in the tune
do you mean it "diesels" for a couple seconds after you shut it off? meaning it kind of keeps running, but not running right and sounds like a diesel?
just trying to get a little more information before I start making SWAG's . . .

That's a negative. It is not Dieseling. tried to get a video or sound clip yesterday and it wouldn't make the noise again.
Drove her today and when i got home, let out the clutch, shut it off and heard the rattle. started back up. let clutch out and shut it off...heard the rattle. started it back up, held clutch in and turned it off..no rattle. repeated the same process and no rattle. So i believe it is something in the clutch/throw bearing rattling when i shut it off with the clutch let out.
Thoughts?

Well, at first you said intake area, now you're saying clutch area?
I think you need to get a friend, a lift, and do the action (or have them do it) so they can listen for the noise and pinpoint it (or you can listen). Use a hose/screwdriver, handle butted up against your ear and the tip on an item to check/stethoscope to figure it out.
But if it's where you say, it's likely the clutch in some way, yes. I'd be thinking about a new clutch kit and possibly a flywheel, because they're not expensive to add to the mix. That's what I did, but I didn't have a rattle, clutch just wore out at 160K. As one does.
And I said 'self, just get the flywheel', so I did.
Anyway. My thoughts are the transmission's coming out, one reason or another, given your description. Although it's possible the clutch being out puts just enough load on the engine to cause it to do the thing, hence the listening trick.

Well my son and I were trying to pin point it on Friday and we bought could here it in the intake valley, I just left out I was to the rear of the intake valley. Yes I agree with putting in a new fly wheel especially since I don't know how the last owners had driven the car. I have a plenty of clutch replacements over the years on mine and other cars.
Thanks for your advise.

I also went by what you posted at first about the intake area, otherwise, I wouldn't had mentioned anything about a timing/fuel issue as the cause for your knocking sounds that you said were heard around the intake area
